Nov 29, 1929---Dec 31, 2024

Carol Klemp Mangun died on December 31st, 2024 at the Lakeview Village Care Center, Lenexa, KS.

Carol was born on November 29, 1929 in Leavenworth, KS, the daughter of Henry and Viletta Klemp.  She briefly lived in Lawrence, KS, before moving to Kansas City, KS.  Carol graduated from Wyandotte High School and attended the University of Missouri-Kansas City, where she played the cello in the symphony orchestra.  She was a member and ordained Elder of the First Presbyterian Church, Kansas City, KS.  She served as the Chairman of the Rebekah and Martha Circles and as president of the Presbyterian Women’s Board.  Carol was a member of the Monday Club and a past president of Chapter BC, of the PEO Sisterhood.  She was also a member of the Alpha Gamma chapter of Psi Psi Psi International Sorority and the Gunsaulas Chautauqua Study Club: serving twice as president of both organizations.

Carol was known for her artistic talents from painting and flower arranging to decorating.  She was generous with her time when asked by various organizations to help with these endeavors.  While her health allowed, she enjoyed giving European travelogues to senior citizens and other groups in the Kansas City area.  She developed an interest in cameos which led her to research their history and to acquire an extensive collection.  Again, she enjoyed giving programs and sharing her knowledge on this subject.

Her greatest joy came from her family.  She was married to her husband, Kermit, for 62 years until his death in 2011.  She is survived by two children: a daughter, Connie Sollars(Gary), Lawrence, KS and a son, Kendall Mangun, Denver, CO; two grandchildren, Drew Sollars(Tina), Olathe, KS and Allison Thompson(John), Leawood, KS; four great grandchildren, Jay Sollars, Fred Sollars, JB Thompson and Lainey Thompson.

A private burial is pending.  In lieu of flowers the  family suggests memorials to The Lakeview Village Foundation: to benefit the Care Center, 9100 Park St, Lenexa, KS  66215 or Ascend Hospice, 4550 W 109th, Suite 210, Overland Park, KS  66207.
