The first day that I walked into a 6:30 a.m. Mass at St. Ann's on November 24, 1998, I sat in the row in front of Gene. I pretty much, from that day on, always sat in the row in front of Gene. There he could nudge me, fill me in on the latest scoop, and, most importantly, be a tremendous example of faithful, devoted Catholic man who loved the Mass and the Eucharist. When I started to read at the Tuesday Masses that Gene served, he asked me why I didn't dress in a suit and tie like I did when I read on the weekends at Queen of the Holy Rosary. Ever since then, that's how I dress for Tuesday Mass. Once, when I wore a sport coat and slacks, Gene asked me why I was dressed down. hahahaha He was a tremendous man and friend to me. I will miss him so much. My condolences and love to Pattie and the entire family.

Gene was not a only a customer of INTRUST Bank, but rather part of our family. We were honored to see Gene at least once a week. Sometimes he would just drop in to say hello or to talk about the Royals or Chiefs. I was honored to be his banker for 18 years. He will forever be remembered in our hearts and our deepest condolences to Patricia and the rest of the family.

I met Gene and Patty when my son and daughter in law moved into the house next door to theirs in 2020. Whenever Gene was in his yard and I was at the kids, he and I would always strike up a conversation that usually included our KC Royals and how proud he was of his family. What a good man he was…. My heartfelt sympathies to Patty and to the entire Propp family. May your loving memories of Gene bring you comfort during this difficult time.

Gene was a client of the Penny Hardesty/State Farm office and he was such a joy to take care of. He would also treat us with respect and would say some funny things that would make us smile. We sure will miss him. Thoughts and prayers for his family.

Such a great teacher! I've never forgotten his Geometry class when he taught at Bishop Lillis High School in the 60's.
