Gloria Sanchez (Mimi), 53, formerly of Kansas City, KS passed away Friday, October 25, 2024 at KU Medical Center. A memorial service will be held in her honor at 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 28, at the Porter Funeral Home in Kansas City, KS. Gloria was born October 11, 1971 in Kansas City, Kansas to the parents Gloria Savala and Guadalupe Sanchez.
Throughout her adulthood she worked at various jobs including but not limited to Walmart, Liberty Fruit, and KB Heating and Cooling. She raised a son, Nicolas Johnston, whom she loved very much. Gloria (Mimi) also cared for her nieces Malaysha Michaud and Andrea Bond as if they were her own children. The 3 of them have made many memories together that will be cherished forever. During Gloria’s free time she enjoyed spending time with family, shopping on occasion, Prince, reality TV, singing her favorite songs, recording family videos and taking pictures. She knew the Lord and would praise Him often, no matter what season she was in her life. Anyone that knew Mimi knew she was just a phone call away – if you asked for her help she’d try her best to be there for you. She will be missed and she is loved dearly.
Gloria (Mimi) was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her son, Nicolas Johnston and his son, Kashton Johnston, her sister Angelina Gonzales, brother Ricardo Gonzales, sister Lisa Balandron (spouse Martin Balandron), brother Michael “Saya” Gonzales (spouse Laura Gonzales), and brother Mark Gonzales (spouse Amanda Gonzales). As well as her nieces, Gina Gonzales, Blanca Vidal, Raquel Gonzales, Kisha Canty, Kayla Gonzales, great nieces Andrea Bond and Malaysha Michaud. Her nephews, Willy and Anthony Borrego, Benji Gonzales, Josh Gonzales and various other extended family and friends.
