Edith Elinor Harlow, 93, of Prairie Village, KS passed away October 11, 2024. Edith was born April 16, 1931 to Edith Elizabeth (Spurgeon) and Emery T. Smith in Kansas City, KS. Edith graduated from Wyandotte High School. Shortly after high school, she met her husband, Alfred, and they traveled to different places throughout the United States during Alfred’s time in the Navy. They settled roots back in the Kansas City area shortly after the birth of their first child, Susan. Edith and Alfred raised their family and lived in Kansas City the remainder of their lives. Edith retired from R.J. Reynolds and co-owned Harlow’s Liquor Store in Shawnee. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred (Ob) ‘Harlow’, and her son, Mike. She is survived by her daughter Susan Laier, son Brent (Mary) Harlow, 5 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Edith was full of life. She dearly loved her family, faith, friends, all animals and KC Chiefs football! Edith’s spunk and spirit will be remembered for many years to come, inspiring future generations to live life with zest and authenticity.
Visitation 4:00 pm followed by a service 5:00 pm Thursday, October 17, at Porter Funeral Home, 8535 Monrovia, Lenexa, KS. Burial 10:00 am Friday October 18 at Chapel Hill, 701 North 94th, Kansas City, KS.
