James Cleveland Stewart, 77, Kansas City, Ks. Passed away Friday, September 20, 2024 at Olathe Hospice House. Visitation from 10 – 11 a.m. with the Funeral Liturgy at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 25th, at Porter Funeral Home, 8535 Monrovia, Lenexa, Ks. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, 701 N. 94th St., Kansas City, Ks.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to Cancer Action, Audubon Society, DAV, or VFW Post 9271.
James was born January 28, 1947 in St. Joseph, Mo. to Nelson Stewart and Pearl Fisher. He moved to the Kansas City, Ks. area in 1958. He went to Bishop Ward High School and Donnelly College. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1967 to 1970 with one year in Vietnam as an aircraft mechanic. After leaving the service he worked at UPS for 23 years and then the Olathe School District retiring after 21 years.
He was preceded in death by his mother Pearl, Stepdad Owen Waller and his wife Kathryn, Step sister Linda Arvin and In-Laws, Thomas and Velva Croskey. James is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sharon Croskey Stewart, of the home, sisters and spouses, Mary F. Simpson, Patricia and Mark Couch and daughter Ashley, Catherine and Tim Regan and children Collin, Mitchell and Brenna, Brother-in-Laws John Arvin and Terry Croskey and his wife Susan and many cousins.
