Adrienne Joan Alley Schweers, 96, departed to be with her Lord and Savior on August 29, 2024 in Lenexa, Kansas.
Adrienne was born in South Dakota and lived there until 1937, when her family moved to a farm in Riceville, Iowa. She attended Iowa State Teachers’ College in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Adrienne then taught 1st grade in Ogden, Iowa and Ames, Iowa for two and a half years. She married Albin H. Schweers on February 3, 1951 in Riceville, Iowa. They moved to Kansas City, Kansas where they settled down to raise their children and make a home. Adrienne’s interests included supporting Al with his military duties and being involved in their children’s activities (Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Campfire Girls.) She was also involved in volunteer activities at the church. She had a love for sewing, cooking, gardening, tennis, and skiing. Adrienne, most of all, loved the Lord, sharing Jesus Christ openly with others. Whether behind the scenes in prayer or publicly sharing her faith, she was always willing to encourage others.
Adrienne is preceded in death by her father, Walter Alley Sr. and her mother, Susan Estella Alley; husband, Albin; brothers, Walter Alley Jr., Phillip Alley, and Bill Alley; daughter, Jan Dwight; and grandson, Paul Caleb Spurrell.
Adrienne is survived by her brother, Richard Alley and wife, Nancy of Skiatook, OK; son, Jim Schweers of Fort Collins, CO; daughter, Jill Spurrell and husband, Jerry of Tulsa, OK; daughter, Julie Weilert and husband, Andy of Fort Collins, CO; grandchildren, Tom Dwight, Jacqueline Reed, Benjamin Weilert, Tim Weilert, Daniel Weilert; great grandchildren, George Weilert, Brayden Reed, Allyson Reed, Clara Weilert, Calvin Dwight, Nolan Dwight, and Nolan Weilert.
Adrienne and her family wish to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff and residents of Lakeview Village for all their care, support, and prayers.
There will be a memorial service on Saturday, September 7th at 1:00 PM at Southridge's Tree Top room at Lakeview Village, 14001 W 92nd Street, Lenexa, KS 66215.
