John Michael Socha, born on January 7th, 1943, in Chicago, Illinois, to Joseph and Jean Socha. He passed away peacefully on June 1st, 2023. He was the loving husband of Dolores Socha, whom he married on April 15th, 1967. Together, they raised three daughters: Liz Socha, Janet Socha, and the late Christine Socha (1988). 

John adored his daughters and was overjoyed when his family welcomed a grandson, Daxton John, who carried his name. He cherished his role as a father & grandfather and delighted in the love and laughter shared with his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Dolores Socha, Daughters Liz Socha and husband is John Fagan, Janet Socha and husband Aaron Fenton. Additionally, granddaughter, Brittany Gilmore, and her husband Bradley Gilmore, along with their three children, Meade, Daxton John, and Izabel Christine. Granddaughter, Jamie Rubehausen, and her husband Nathan Rubehausen, and granddaughter’s Brenya & Presley Fagan.

John eldest of five children is survived by sister Dianne & (Frank) Dzik, brother Thomas Socha (deceased), sister Sharon & (Victor- decease) Jozefowicz, brother Ronald & (Sue) Socha. Along with 7 nieces/nephews & 4 great nieces/nephew.

John possessed a warm and welcoming spirit, treating everyone he encountered with kindness and respect. He had a genuine interest in others and found joy in making them feel special. His generosity extended to his passion for cooking, as he always delighted in preparing meals, especially for those he loved.

After proudly serving in the Air Force for four years and attaining the rank of Sergeant, John dedicated 25 years of his professional life to the United States Postal Service. Following his retirement, he continued his career for another 20 years in the mailing room at Waddle & Reed.

John had a zest for life that was contagious. He found solace in fishing and cherishing the time spent with family and friends. His easygoing nature and ability to connect with people meant that he never met a stranger. He treated everyone with equal respect, whether a janitor or a CEO.

A visitation service to celebrate John's life will be held on June 12th at 1:00pm at Porter Funeral Home in Lenexa, KS. Following the visitation a memorial service will be held at 2:00pm in the same location.

John Michael Socha's legacy of love, warmth, and genuine care will forever resonate in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
