Annette Suzanne Bright, 62, of Overland Park, KS, passed away on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, at her home in Overland Park, Kansas.
Annette was born August 2, 1960, in Kansas City, MO to Theodore and Rosemary (Grindinger) Weber. She is survived by her husband of 24 years, Dean Bright, and two sons whom she cherished, Seth Brooke and Micah Brooke. Annette’s life revolved around her boys, and she supported and encouraged their dreams and passions.
Annette was the second child in the birth order of seven siblings that includes Larry Weber, Michelle Bird, Rob Weber, Tony Weber, Sharon Weber, and Dennis Weber. Annette treated her many nieces and nephews much like her own children, babysitting, planning trips and attending their school functions and sporting events.
All who know Annette will tell you of her highest admiration and love for her two sons, Seth and Micah Brooke. Her devoted work as mother and friend prepared and shaped them into the fine men they have become, of which she couldn’t be prouder. Memories of rowdy Chiefs games, board games, trips to their homes in California and Christmas traditions are just a sampling of the cherished times between Annette and her sons. Her faithful role as mom came naturally and was evident. Holding boundless love for travel, Annette made frequent trips to enjoy time with the boys across the globe from whale watching in California to exploring the wilds in Africa, or the sunny beaches in Florida. Annette brought a spirited sense of adventure and laughter with her, creating joyful and lasting memories to all around her.
Mrs. A Bright, as her students fondly knew her, loved every part of preparing for each school year and for the students with whom she had the privilege of teaching. Each Christmas she gifted them their own personalized stocking. She routinely shared her love of Star Wars in her classroom and appreciated humorous interactions with her students and fellow colleagues.
Annette was talented in so many aspects of her life. She was a genius with words and writing. Many of her editorials were published in the Kansas City Star. She spell-checked and fact-checked many posts on Facebook. She was a wordsmith.
Annette was very passionate about her Catholic faith and loved music. As a beloved member of Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, she could be seen and heard at Sunday Mass singing in the choir with a strong, beautiful alto voice. She loved to harmonize, with great pitch and timing. While she was encouraged to become a cantor, she chose not to, humbly feeling that she would be more valuable in the choir. She loved special services like Christmas and Easter and attended everychoir rehearsal. Annette declined invitations from family and friends to make almost every choir practice. She loved singing to God and made many friends in choir. The choir at Queen of the Holy Rosary church is a family and has lost a loving, funny sister.
