Dr. Charles W. Johnson (Charlie) - age 90, passed away on December 1, 2022 at St. Luke's South Hospital.  Charlie was born on May 30, 1932 to Clifford and Dorothy Johnson in Bucklin, Kansas.  After high school he completed a Master of Science degree at Pittsburg State University, a Masters degree, and a Specialist degree in Vocational Education and later a Doctor of Education at Kansas University.  He spent thirty- nine years in education as a teacher and administrator, the last twelve years as the Academic Dean at Kansas City Kansas Community College.

He is survived by his loving wife, Kay, and three children:  Debbie Mikijanis (Phil),  Alan Johnson (Gina), and Joel Johnson (Julie); six grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and one great - great grandchild.  He is also survived by three step-children: Robert Sitek, Susan Dennis, and Tom Sitek; and three step - grandchildren, and former spouse Phyllis Howell.  He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Shirley Kirk, grandson Kevin Johnson, and great  granddaughter, Presley Juenemann.

The visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Tuesday, December 6, at the Porter Funeral Home, 8535 Monrovia, Lenexa KS with the Funeral Service following at 11 a.m. Entombment in Resurrection Cemetery.

I knew Charles at two Kansas City, Kansas schools when I was growing up and consider him to have been a good leader and role model from my experiences. First, was at Northwest Junior and later at the Community College. He was a personable and professional leader. May God bless.
