Phyllis Cooper passed away September 5, 2022 at the University of Kansas Hospital. Phyllis was born November 30, 1933 in Oak Park, IL to Lester and Mabel Landgrebe. She is survived by husband Jack Cooper, daughters Virginia Anderson, Susan Cooper and Cynthia Cooper, and five grandchildren. Phyllis grew up in the Chicago and Boston areas and graduated from high school in Ft. Wayne, IN. She received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Kansas City and was a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority.

Phyllis met Jack at the University of KC where he attended law school. They were married in 1955 and celebrated 67 years of marriage.  Phyllis worked as a stay-at-home mother and in retail in Atlanta, GA and was an avid school volunteer and Girl Scout leader for many years. Phyllis was employed as a travel agent after the children were grown and the couple returned to Kansas City. They retired in 1990. Phyllis and Jack enjoyed many travel adventures to destinations throughout the U.S., Europe, Australia, New Zealand, China, Africa, Israel and Russia. She was an ardent crossword puzzler and fiction reader, a talented letter writer, and the best gift-giver ever.

A private family burial was held at Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa, Kansas. A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lenexa United Methodist Church, 9138 Caenen Lake Road, Lenexa, Kansas 66215.
