Geraldine Wood Heathman, 96, of Shawnee, Kansas passed away May 17, 2022 at Sunrise of Lenexa.  Visitation will be 10 AM May 26 at the Porter Funeral Home in Lenexa, Kansas with a Memorial Service to follow at 11 AM with Chaplin Jerry Ogden officiating.

 

Geraldine (Jerry) was born October 11, 1925, in Granville,, Missouri.  Jerry worked for the Shawnee Mission School District for 23 years as the Cafeteria Manager for South Park Grade School. She was a member of the Bristol Hill United Methodist Church, the Abdallah Tin Lizziettes, and Daughter of the Nile.  Loving wife of the late Robert Heathman.  She is survived by her son Terry (Marline) Heathman, daughter Meredith (Richard) Horvath, 5 grandchildren, and 10  great grandchildren.

 

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Abdallah Transportation Fund of the Abdallah Shrine Center.

We’re so sorry for your loss. Having lost our mothers years ago, we relished knowing that Mrs Heathman was still with us-a mother remained so we weren’t alone. I remember hanging out at Marty’s house, sampling dandelion wine your dad made, and listening to Herb Alpert’s Tijuana Brass. Mrs. H was always gracious and kind and never worried about all the noise we made-or didn’t make. We will be out of state when the service is. Please know that I send hugs and hugs! Vicki & Marta

My husband, Ernie Kumpf, and I remember Jerry with great fondness. We worked with her at South Park. She had a beautiful smile and loved working in the cafeteria and interacting with the students. She was a very special lady.
