Jill Eliason passed away peacefully in Overland Park, Kansas, on May 10, 2022, at the age of 73. She was the devoted wife of Daniel, sister to three brothers, daughter of Pete and Dolores Kirkman, mother of Amanda and Nicolas, grandmother of eight and friend of many others. She was born in Great Bend, Kansas on May 9, 1949, and began her life as a farm girl on the north edge of town. Lots of dogs, cats, horses, and little brother, Donnie to hang out with. She attended St. Patrick school and graduated from Great Bend High School in 1967. In the fall, she moved to Manhattan where she attended Kansas State University.
Always with a sense of adventure, following her sophomore year her father found her a summer job in Yellowstone Park. It was there that she met her soul mate. She and Daniel were married in St. Patrick’s Church in Great Bend on September 30, 1972. After a bitter cold winter in Bozeman, they moved back to Great Bend where Dan started a construction company and Jill raised their family. In 1986 they moved to Overland Park, Kansas. They attended Holy Spirit Catholic Church, and later joined Ascension parish. Jill began her career in retail sales, first at the Plaid Elephant and Presents and for 10 years at Williams Sonoma. She retired in 2013. She and Dan traveled regularly with friends across the US, Europe and the Holy Land, and could often be seen in the mountains of Colorado.
Jill is survived by husband Daniel, daughter Amanda Cushenbery, son Nicolas Eliason, and grandchildren Vail, Asher, Ruby, Zander, Mamie, Winnie, Charlie and Liam.
The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 17, at Church of the Ascension, 9510 W. 127th St. Overland Park, KS. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa, KS.
