Mar 27, 1938---Jan 07, 2022

Karene (O’Brien) Weimholt “Gammie”, 83, passed away on Friday, January 7, 2022.  She was born on March 27, 1938 to the late James M. O’Brien “Dangy” and Lucille Scahill “Gam” in Trelor, Mo.  She was married to Bernard Weimholt “Papa” from August 16, 1958 until he passed January 2016.  Karene worked for ADP and Lee Company.  Bernie and Karene later started their own company, Universal Telecommunications, where she was VP until they decided to retire.

Mom loved spending time with her family and organized many family trips over the years.  She always made holidays special with a lot of family activities, plenty of “made from scratch” food, too many sweets and beautifully wrapped gifts.  Gammie and Papa helped make many wonderful memories during summers and holidays at their home in Bella Vista, AR.  These traditions continued when they moved to Shawnee, KS.

Mom & Dad loved traveling.  Most trips were by car so that they could see the country.  Some trips were with family, some to go see family, and many trips were with their good friends.  Mom made 2 trips to Ireland and would have loved to go back again.

Karene made many friends over the years going back as far as high school.  She enjoyed going out to eat, girl’s trip week-ends, craft shows and just sitting and talking to them.

Karene is survived by her loving children Debbie (Weimholt) Marshall (husband Dave), Jeff Weimholt (wife Jennifer), Keith Weimholt (wife Nancy), Greg Weimholt (wife Amber).  She was blessed with 8 grandchildren; Danielle Thellman (husband Kevin), Ben Weimholt, Mitchell Marshall, Jon Marshall, James Marshall (wife Allie), Caroline Weimholt, Brayden Weimholt, Will Weimholt and 4 great-grandchildren;  Riley Thellman, Hannah Thellman, Hailey Thellman, and Sophia Marshall.

Visitation will be 10:00-11:00am Friday, 1/14/22 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Shawnee with a Rosary prayed at 10:00am.  Funeral Mass will be immediately following at 11:00am.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to your favorite charity in her honor.

So sorry to hear of the passing of Karene. I know she will be missed by her family and friends. My father, Larry George, still talks about the many years of friendship with Karene and Bernie. So many family functions and outings that were shared they were practically family! Prayers go out to the family at this difficult times.
