Jul 20, 1949---Nov 23, 2021

Alan John Kostus went to be with the Lord on November 23, 2021.

He was born to Eleanor and Stanley Kostus on July 20th, 1949. He grew up in Kansas City, Kansas and attended Christ the King through 8th grade. He then graduated from Washington High School in 1967. He attended and graduated from Kansas State University and served faithfully in the National Guard for 22 years. He retired as a Supervisor of the main branch of the Kansas City Post office.

He married Marcia Lewis in June of 1972. They were married for 49 years.

Family members will always treasure his selfless character. People's well-being mattered more to him than his own comfort. He was a strong supporter of Advice and Aid.

He absolutely cherished being a grandfather to Ayden and the Twins - Reghan and Fallyn.

He is now with Jesus celebrating in glory.

The survivors include his wife Marcia, two sons Steven and Andrew (Ashley), 3 grandchildren, his sister Gail (Mike), and brother Bruce (Marsha). He maintained a close relationship with his cousins Sandy and Nancy (Fred) and his brother-in-law William Lewis (Sandy). In addition, he valued all the numerous relationships and friendships throughout the Kansas City area.

The family thanks all the supportive friends and prayers during the years.

A visitation will be held from 9:30-11 a.m. on December 1, at Lenexa Baptist Church, 15320 W. 87th St., Lenexa, KS with the Memorial Service to follow at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial cotributions to Advice & Aid, 10901 Granada Lane, Overland Park, Ks 66211.

Il Timothy 4:7&8a I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge will give to me. This scripture describes the life Alan lived and the life he now lives in heaven.

"Beloved children, our love can't be an abstract theory we only talk about, but a way of life demonstrated through our loving deeds. We know that the truth lives within us because we demonstrate love in action, which will reassure our hearts in His presence." 1 John 3:18, 19 (TPT) Alan was a doer of the Word. He lived his life with love, integrity, and service for Jesus. We were blessed to serve side by side with Alan & Marcia and call them friends. Prayers & love to your family. Roger & Sheri

Dear Marcia, Jim and I are so very sorry that Alan has been taken from us all, but we know that heaven rejoices at the event of one of its very own ascending to their real home. We’re sad to no longer have Alan here, yet we rejoice that he has now become part of that great cloud of witnesses cheering us on, and I like to think interceding for all still here. I can not think of Alan without thinking of faithfulness, honor, devotion, respect, gratitude and wit. We need ever so many more just like him. Marcia, I hope that these words give you comfort during this time. Matthew 25:21 His lord said to him: Well done, good and faithful servant, because thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will place thee over many things, Enter thou into the joy of thy lord. I am sure that he is singing and praising the Dear Lord and having new job duties to do. God Bless you and your family.
