Vincent “Vince” Stonestreet, 80,  passed away on November 17, 2021, his birthday, at his home in Kansas City, KS surrounded by his family and his beloved cat, Socks.

Vince was born in Kansas City, KS and was a lifelong resident of Wyandotte County. With only a high school diploma (Wyandotte High School) he was a successful businessman and a wiz with numbers. Vince worked for Railway Express, Wonder Bread, Andrew Jergens Company and eventually was the owner of L&V Outlet in Leavenworth, KS for 35 years. He was funny, fiery and never the fool. He was generous with his family and quietly generous to many others. He loved his wife Jamey and she remained his number one priority up until his death. He always had his kids’ back, no matter the circumstance. To meet Vince was to know Vince. He lived his life with a true compass of right and wrong and treated people how they treated him. He instilled a strong work ethic in all of those around him and worked hard for everything he had. He loved cows and pigs and was an avid supporter of 4-H. He was a collector of many things, but most notably of Native American art, a passion inspired by his uncle, the late Father Niles Kraft.

Vince is preceded in death by his father and mother, Leonard and Louise Stonestreet.

Vince is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Jamey; children, Paul (Donna) Stonestreet, Mauria Stonestreet, and Eric (Lindsay) Stonestreet; grandchildren Morgan, Garrett, and Brooke; brothers, Leonard (Delores), Paul (Jan), his favorite sisters, Martha and Jeanie; and his caretaker and right hand man, Darcy.

And shocker, in true Vince fashion, he didn’t want any services and let’s be honest, he’d be irate we even put this in the paper. Rather, his hope was you’d gather family, put a bouquet of flowers on the table and share stories about your friendship with him.

Vince was so appreciative of the doctors, nurses and caregivers that took care of him the last four years. In lieu of flowers, his family ask that donations be made in Vince’s name to University of Kansas Health System Cancer Care Center or Kansas City Hospice.

Dearest Stonestreet Family, I am so sorry for the profound loss of Vince. I had the pleasure of spending an afternoon with him once at your home, and I understood right away where Eric got his sense of protectiveness, loyalty and curiosity. Vince was a bear of a man who spent hours going through stacks of Navajo (I think?) rugs and tapestries, answering my inane questions and barking at me when I tried his patience. He treated me like a member of the family: no fuss and lots of love. All I wanted to be that afternoon was a Stonestreet. Those few hours gave me insight into the stellar human being I call my brother, Eric. I did not get enough time with Vince, but I will always be grateful for the man he raised. Thank you, Vince, for the gift of your son. He will continue to represent you well, as you retire for a well-deserved rest. I send the family, Lindsay, and the boys all my love and a few tears as well. With my deepest sympathy, Julie

I always think of your Dad behind the cash register at his store. It was many, many years ago, but even though I was young, I knew he was proud of it. Hugs and love as you remember the good times and smile through the tears.

Our hearts go out to the Stonestreet family. I am thankful to have known Vince. He was one of the kindest and most generous people I have ever known. I had the honor of seeing first hand the joy he took in helping others. I will never forget those memories and experiences.

One of the things I loved about Vince was his laugh. Sure, he was a head strong, plain-speaking, no bull kind of guy, but there was also a real sweet funny side to him. He was always kind to me, Eric's buddy from LA, and so welcoming. Many things about Vince stick with me -- his strength, his conviction, his mini cannon -- but his laugh, especially when he laughed hard, that was gold. Sure glad I got to know him. My condolences, he will be missed.

I’m so sorry for your loss. I had the pleasure of chatting with Vince when he would come in to do business at the bank where I worked in Leavenworth. Years ago, he would proudly talk about his wife and family and meeting up with his son Eric in Las Vegas and encouraged me to get my husband to take me some day. When we planned on going I told Vince and he generously reached out to the hotel we were staying and got us tickets to a show! We had wonderful time! Vince also brought in a baby gift when I had our youngest son. He was always so kind to me. I left my job at the bank but ran into him there a few years later at the bank and we talked for a moment. I will always remember my favorite bank customer and I love telling that story of his generosity. Sending prayers for comfort to his lovely family. Tracey Kochanowski

The Vince story that stands out is the one when I visited for dinner one night while traveling through KC. Vince and Jamey just finished their new home and Vince had some big NY strip steaks ready to put on the grill. He appreciated my appetite and I did not disappoint enjoying more than one of those hefty steaks. Vince showed me all around the house and everything had a special meaning where things came from and why he did it the way he did. I remember the hardwood floors from old bowling alley lanes from someone he knew. They were refinished and the most beautiful floors I had ever seen. Vince was telling me it was because of the extra coats of polyurethane he had them apply and it had to be gloss to give it depth. He said don't let them tell you they don't need those extra coats because they do. The floor guys will insist they don't need those extra coats. You'll have to stand your ground and tell them to just do it if they want the job. I'll never forget that visit and so grateful I took the time to stop that evening. I'm seriously still planning to have a floor like Vince had someday/somewhere to enjoy and tell the story this is why my floors are different. Thoughts and prayers to the Stonestreet family.

Paul, Jeannie, Martha, Leonard, and Jamey, so sorry for your loss. I have fond memories of the Stonestreet clan when growing up on Sandusky. We were all such good, close neighborhood kids. Even at an early age, you could tell "Vincey" was an entrepreneur. I still have his and Pau's old business card for Stonestreet's "Ford: Model T, the Universal Car" with their address and phone number on it. All the good times we had growing up living on the same block and going to the same church and school are memories I'll never forget and I bet "Vincey" has probably struck a deal with our Lord, too!

I wonder if he has bumped into Whitey yet? 🤣 Vince, you will be missed and I am great-full to have called you a friend. Thanks for all you have done to change so many lives! Until we meet again…. Our thoughts are with all of you in this challenging time. I feel honored to have gotten to know Vince. He was courageous, witty and a straight shooter. And it was clear he truly prioritized and enjoyed his family. Despite all the advances, we must do better at treating cancers and we will continue our research in his honor so that future patients will have more effective therapies with less toxicities. Vince will be fondly remembered.

To the Stonestreet family, We are so sorry for the loss of Vince. I was lucky enough to not only spend time with Vince, but to also get a private tour from Eric around KC in Vince’s F-250 (Or was it a 350?), where he showed me everything that was influenced by Vince’s leadership. On what was a very snowy and icy day, I asked Eric why Vince doesn’t have four-wheel drive. Eric said, "Vince doesn’t need four-wheel drive". That sums up Vince for me. Tough, solid, a captain. And never one to be in jeopardy of getting stuck in a ditch. Condolences to all who were lucky enough to have had Vince in their lives. Love, the Gassmans

Hey Stonestreet’s; just wanted to send our Aloha and tell you how lucky I feel to have met and known Vince. I still remember going to the house for the first time and Vince proudly showing me his room with the southwestern theme and the chair where he sat. He was a great Dad and loved his family so much. A great example for us all. He will be missed by many.

I have always admired the love and dedication you all have to each other. When Vince and Jamey would visit Eric in Cali it was such a pleasure to witness how much fun you all had together. The pride and support that Vince gave to you Eric, was so heartwarming. It’s rare to see a family that so genuinely wants to spend time together. It’s a gift. My prayer is that all the special moments and time well spent together comforts you. You loved your dad so well. Much love, Kara

We wanted to send you our deepest sympathies on the loss of such a great man. From the first time he met us he always made us feel like family. He was so supportive of such a young coach and willing to help us in any way he could. We loved his stories and his generous heart. We were always comfortable around him - that doesn't always happen when you're a coach. He wanted the best for not only his kids, but also the kids of Piper. He was such a hard worker and it seemed like his knowledge on so many subjects knew no bounds. We can't imagine how much you will miss him. We pray God comforts you and holds you so close through this time. We love you all. Doug and Susie

Dear Jamey, Paul, Mauria and Eric we are so sorry for your loss . Vince was a great person! I always enjoyed talking with him and listening to his stories when he would stop by my grandparents (Bob & Dorothy Buehler) and have a drink with my grandfather. Vince was a big supporter of 4-H and fun to visit with during the fair. He never let Eric and I forget the year the judge gave us all white ribbons in senior showmanship with our pigs! To many good memories to mention. He touched so many lives in a special way & will be dearly missed by so many. Keeping all of you in our thoughts and prayers.
