Susan "Suzy" (South) McReynolds, 57, of Osawatomie, KS passed away surrounded by family on Thursday, September 30, 2021 at Olathe Medical Center in Olathe, KS.

Suzy was born November 11, 1963 in Lynwood, CA to James and Joyce South. As a young child she moved with her family to Kansas City, KS, where she attended Oak Grove Elementary, Highland Junior High, and Turner High School.

Suzy had different jobs throughout her life, but her absolute favorite was being a home healthcare aide for 17 years. She formed strong bonds with many of her clients and mourned deeply when they passed.

Suzy loved the outdoors, whether it be the mountains in Colorado or on the farm where she resided with her husband.  Family was the most important thing to her and she was happiest when everyone was gathered together.  She also enjoyed taking pictures of old barns, tending her flower gardens, and doing "the Walmart Crawl" with her mom.

Survivors include her husband: Mark McReynolds, children: Jesse Wood (Adrianne), E. Wood (Terry), Kayla South, Kimberlee Fields, Josh McReynolds (Kelsey), Mistie McReynolds, and Matthew McReynolds (Meg), grandchildren: Tyler, Mariah, Keedon, Kylee, David, Colter, Shaylynn, Aubriana, Sophia, and William, parents: James & Joyce South, sister: Amy Fogarty (Micky).  She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and great friends that have become family.

She was preceded in death by her paternal and maternal grandparents, sister: Judith Moore, brother: Kenny South, as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 7, with Funeral Services following at 11:00 a.m. at the Porter Funeral Home, 8535 Monrovia Lenexa, KS 66215.

To the South family, My thoughts & prayers have been with you from the beginning. I know what a Strong family bond you have & that is something that I always cherished in Susan. She was such a Strong woman & had a wonderful heart of gold. We loved spending time being goofy & just cracking each up over the silliest things & I will miss her so much. You did a very Awesome job raising her & I had to laugh at the "Walmart crawl with her momma" comment above.. because she really did & she just loved spending so much time with her Momma. I am so sorry for all of your loss with Susan & Kenny I just cannot imagine the pain that you are both feeling & my heart goes out to both Jim & Joyce& the entire South family. Amy, my heartbreaks for you & as I cannot imagine how difficult this must be for you. My condolences to you & your family also. You were so strong for everyone thru all of the hospital stay while all three of them were in the hospital. Obviously being strong women is something your mom taught all three of you. I am so very sorry that this happened & it found have possibly have been prevented. I will continue to pray for your family & to find a way to help with the grieving & healing process. I know it is something you cannot rush & this one will probably take time. To Susan's kids & grandkids, She loves you all & was proud of all of you.. she lived for her family & ONLY wanted all of her kids & grand kids closer to her & to be a part of her life. I hope that all of her grandchildren are reminded everyday how much they were loved by her even if they didn't have a chance to spend much chance to spend with her. Because what a Amazing woman & Mother & Grandmother & Daughter & Wife & Friend Susan was to EVERYONE that met her ❤ Love you until we meet again 💜❤❤

Brother I am so sorry for your loss. I still cannot beleive she is gone & I kn? Mlm low that you can't either. I know it was so hard walking in the house after being released from the hospital & her not being there. This Virus just took everyone down & I know how hard it was for you to be in the hospital fighting it when Kenny & Susan ended up losing there lives to it. But by God's help they were able to get you better after two weeks & sending you home on Oxygen full time. But now you need to grieve & heal your heart & from the virus that almost took you also. I know how much you both loved each other & how much you miss her. I ask you to take your time with the grieving process. I will be here for you if you need me for support or whatever else I can do. May God continue to help you on your journey.
