Kenny South, 56, passed away peacefully at Olathe Medical Center with family gathered close by on September 24, 2021.
He was born on February 23, 1965, in Lynwood, Ca. At an early age the family moved to Kansas City, Ks. He graduated from Turner High School in 1983. After graduating high school, he went on to work for Vita Craft, Waste Management, Santa Fe Tow, and at the time of his passing, Schmuhl Brothers.
Kenny was a major fixture in the racing community in Kansas City and all around the Midwest, both as a fan and as a motor sports photographer. His weekends were spent at the race track, watching the KC Chiefs play football, or the KC Royals play baseball. He loved spending time at different race tracks with his girlfriend Heather and their friends. Along with photography, he also had a passion for family, trucking, the Rocky Mountains, and barbecue!
He is preceded in death by both sets of grandparents, numerous aunts and uncles, and sister Judith Moore. At the time of his death, he was survived by his girlfriend Heather Berry, his parents Jim and Joyce South, sister and brother-in-law Amy and Micky Fogarty, sister and brother-in-law Suzy and Mark McReynolds, daughter and son-in-law Nikki and Chris Hernandez, son Christian Rogers, grandchildren Julia South, Aubrey Witkopp, Savannah McGee, Peyton McGee and great granddaughter Destiny McGee. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and the many friends he made everywhere he went.
A celebration of life is planned for October 16, 2021 from 10am-1pm at Cedar Lake (Kaw Shelter) in Olathe, KS.
