Terry Barkley died on September 2, 2021 in Merriam, KS.  Terry was born on September 14, 1957, the son of James W and Maurine (Carver) Barkley Feaster, in Independence, MO.  Terry was a 1975 graduate of Shawnee Mission High School, and a 1979 graduate of The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY.  Chef Barkely, embarked on a distinguished career in the restaurant, hotel, and country club industry, in several American cities including, Atlanta, Miami, Houston, Phoenix, Washington D.C.and Kansas City. In addition, he taught the culinary arts in various schools.  His career was highlighted by being selected as the Executive Chef of Super Bowl XXX.  Terry lived life to the fullest, a connoisseur of elaborate to simple cuisine, an enormous appreciation of music, whether on TV, film, or in concerts small and large - including seeing Willie Nelson in concert over 80 times.  An avid sports fan was another form of great enjoyment for him.  Terry had a unique gift of storytelling as he loved to hear and tell one story after another, only to then share them endlessly.  Humor came naturally to Terry and was the origin of his never ending smile, laughter, and good will.  Terry cherished being with his vast array of friends & family, sharing many of life’s experiences.  He was preceded in death by his parents, step father, Lester Feaster, brother, Ron Barkley, nephew, Lane Barkley, and niece Erin Zinna.  Terry is survived by sisters, Judy and Pat Barkley, and Lynette Zinna, along with nieces, nephews and cousins. His lifelong friend, Larry Steimetz.  Lastly, his beloved & faithful dog, Cooper.  It was Terry’s wish to not have services, but instead for one to attend a concert, try a new restaurant, or go to a game, or to simply share a story to a friend in his memory.
