Opal Irene Bollin, age 95 and a long-time resident of Kansas City, KS, went to be with our Lord on July 9, 2021. She was born in Kansas City, KS on May 13, 1926, the daughter of Theron and Gladys Hall. She preferred her middle name instead of Opal and after graduation from Wyandotte High School, Irene married Louis Bollin on December 17, 1947. Following the arrival of their first child, Michael, she focused on managing the home and helping with the family business, Bethel Printing Service.
Irene was active in the Ladies’ Auxiliary to VFW Post 5851. Over the years she held multiple officer positions and was president for several years. She and Louis worshiped at the Gospel Hall in Kansas City, KS and later at The Bible Chapel of Shawnee when the Kansas City, KS congregation closed.
She was a decades long volunteer for local nursing homes and the Veterans Hospital in Leavenworth, KS. Irene often enjoyed hosting bingo games for the entertainment of residents.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Theron and Gladys Hall, and her brother, Darrel Hall. She is survived by her husband, Louis Bollin of Cedar Lake Village in Olathe, KS; her sons, Mike Bollin of Lenexa, KS, and Ed Bollin of Osawatomie, KS; four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be held at 9:30 a.m. with Funeral Services following at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 13, at the Porter Funeral Home, 8535 Monrovia Lenexa, KS. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Kansas City, KS. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the VFW Auxiliary Cancer Fund in Kansas City, MO.
