Sharon Goss passed away peacefully at her home in Prairie Village, Kansas on May 28, 2021. Sharon was born in McPherson, Kansas on October 14, 1935, the daughter of Eldon and Helen McKee Talbott and the sister of Fenton “Pete” Talbott. While growing up in McPherson, she met the love of her life, Max T. Goss, her loving husband of 65 years. After graduating from McPherson High School in 1953, Sharon attended Kansas State University where she was a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority and a reader of children’s stories on the local radio station. In the early years of their marriage, Max was deployed to Okinawa, Japan with the U.S. Army. Sharon remained in McPherson during this time, spending only two weeks with Max during a welldeserved rendezvous in Hawaii. Upon Max’s return from Japan, the couple moved to Great Bend, Kansas where Sharon focused on raising their three children. During Sharon’s years in Great Bend, she was actively involved in community volunteer work, the activities of her children, and the First Congregational United Church of Christ. She took particular joy from her involvement with a local community women’s choir and the Great Bend chapter of P.E.O. Max and Sharon retired to the Kansas City area in 2005. Those who knew Sharon will remember her as a kind and unselfish woman who always thought of others first. Her upbeat demeanor and cheery disposition were infectious to all who met her. Sharon is survived by her husband and her three children: Mike Goss of Westport, Connecticut; Jeff Goss of St. Louis, Missouri; and Susan Goss VanElders of Overland Park, Kansas. She will be sorely missed by her seven grandchildren, her great granddaughter, and her countless friends. The life of Sharon Talbott Goss will be celebrated in a private family service.
