James G. Leaton, son of Paul and Sally Leaton, passed away April 26, 2021. Jim lived in Kansas City, KS all his life. Jim worked numerous jobs to allow him freedom to pursue his music. Jim adored Rita and she adored him. She cared for him until his last day. Jim was preceded in death by his son, Houston Leaton, and his mother Sally and father, Paul Leaton. Jim leaves behind his son, Dakota Leaton, his fiancée, Rita Lawrence, brothers Paul H. (Vickie) Leaton, Fred J. Leaton, sister Rose Denk and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 12:00 Noon at Porter Funeral Home, 1835 Minnesota Ave, KCK, 66102 on Saturday, May 15, 2021. Visitation starts at 11:00 am. Burial to be held after services at Chapel Hill Cemetery 701 N. 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas 66112. There will be a celebration of life at the Moose Lodge 1999, 6621 Turner Drive, Kansas City, Kansas 66111, Sunday, May 16th, 2021 at 3:00 pm. He will be greatly missed…..

Jimmy and I go back to 1965 at junior high. He was a year ahead of me, but we both played drums in pep band and orchestra. He was a good drummer then. We never had an argument or disagreement in all the years we knew each other. He was a lot of fun to play music with. He will be missed!!! Rest in peace, Jimmy!!!
