Reva Charlene Shannon, 78, Kansas City, MO, formerly of Mt. Vernon, MO went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 7, 2021.  

Reva was born in Stott City, MO, April 11, 1942. She is the daughter of William Paul Irwin and Lena Alberta Irwin (formerly Foust). She attended and graduated Mt. Vernon Highschool and then proceeded to graduate Beauty School where she graduated in the top 10 percent of her class. She later moved to Atchison, KS to start her family and lived there for 33 years. She then moved to Springfield, MO to help take care of her mother. She made lots a friends through the years from work, the VFW, and playing BINGO. Reva loved to read a good mystery, fish, work in the yard, play with her dogs, watching KC Chiefs  and go shopping with her daughter, Lisa.  

Reva’s children and grandchildren were the pride and joy of her life.  The legacy of reading and zest for life will live on through them. Reva was an inspiration to all who knew her  There was nothing Reva liked better than an interesting conversation with a good friend.  She could have and engaging conversation with anyone. It was often said that there wasn’t a stranger that she didn’t know- or a smile kept to oneself. 

Reva loved taking long walks in the park, stopping to smell the flowers and being around her family. She is survived by her three children: Michael and his wife Imelda , Lisa and her husband Stan, and her beloved younger son, William. She had seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Also are her surviving brothers, Kay Irwin and his wife Eula, Gerald Irwin, James Irwin and his wife Connie, and Larry Irwin and his wife Sandi and many nieces and nephews. She is proceeded in death by her parents, her brother, Donald Irwin. and her granddaughter, Storm C. Shannon. She will be laid at rest in Aurora cemetery. She will be greatly missed.
