Aug 08, 1947---Nov 20, 2025

Teresa (Tessie) Sappenfield (Reising) of Kansas City, KS passed away on November 20, 2025.  She was born on August 8, 1947 to George Albert Reising and Rowena Mae Reising (Brillhart).  She is survived by her loving husband Phillip Bruce Sappenfield Jr.  She is also survived by her loving family, daughter Sherri Ankrum (Mark), son Mike Sappenfield (Loretta), daughter Shannon Ellis (Dave), grandchildren Zachary Walker(Jessie), Leigh Walker, Kendall Kang (Ken), Jon Ellis(Lilly), Alec Sappenfield (Gracie), Nolan Ankrum, and Melody Ellis (Kameron) and great grandchildren Noah and Anastasia.  She is also survived by her loving siblings, Janet Springer, George Reising (Loretta), Susie Engle, and Andy Reising (Tonia) and many loving nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her loving parents, George and Rowena Reising.  Her loving siblings Angela (Jeanie) Bolt and Rosalie (Stimac) Schlesinger.

She graduated from Bishop Ward High School in the class of 1965.  She spent her entire career in the banking system at numerous banks across Kansas City as an administrative assistant retiring from Mission Bank in 2008.  All her life was devoted to her immediate and extended family.  She took great joy in giving to her family.  She never missed a birthday, anniversary, or any life event of significance.  She always made a point to make life better for everyone around her.  We are terribly saddened by our loss.  We lost our matriarch, grandma, sister, aunt, and friend.  The mother that every child in the world needs.  She made all of us want to be a better person.

Our loving parents recently celebrated 60 years of marriage on February 27, 2025 and experienced many wonderful years together raising our family.  In a world filled with human atrocities, our mother advocated love, forgiveness, and second chances.  She would always say “I am going to hug the meanness out of you!”  The unconditional love she gave made us accountable to be a better person.

She would always repeat this saying from her mother- “Before you judge someone, walk a mile in their shoes.”

With great love to everyone lucky enough to have our mother in your life, We lost our Butterfly!

We love everyone, thank you for being in our lives!

Saddened to hear the loss of your mother. It was a pleasure getting to meet her ever so often at the lake. She was a wonderful woman and generous caring soul. Heaven definitely got a new angel.

So sorry to see this. Tessie as she was known from the old neighborhood was fun and laughing friend. She was my chauffeur every day to high school. She and her family were a very important part of my life. Heaven has another angel.

My family lived down the street from the Sappenfields when we were little and my sisters and I were all friends of Shannon. I will always remember Mrs. Sappenfield’s kindness when we were at their house! I am very sorry for your loss.

I am sorry about Teresa‘s passing. What a positive and always friendly person! Several of us had the privilege to enjoy “Girls’ Weekends” at Mr. and Mrs. Sappenfield‘s beautiful home at the Lake of the Ozarks! Such generous and welcoming people! Teresa will be missed by many!
