Terry Lee Mills , Age: 66
May 07, 1952 -- August 03, 2018

Terry Lee (Thompson) Mills, of Kansas City, Kansas, passed away on August 3rd, 2018, after a short battle with cancer. Born on May 7, 1952, in Kansas City, KS, to Betty and Bill Thompson, Terry graduated from Washington High School and married Mark "Tony" Mills in 1970. A strong believer in credit unions, Terry worked for several local credit unions during her career before retiring in 2018. Most important to Terry was her faith, her family, and her friends. For that reason, banking was not just about business for Terry. It provided an opportunity for her to share her real passion, her love for the saving power of Jesus Christ, with her co-workers and members of the community in which she worked. Many times people would come into her place of business to pray with Terry, or to listen to her share her love of the hope of Christ. Terry always cherished opportunities to be involved in the mission work happening in the country of South Sudan, and to minister to her Sudanese family. She made two trips to that mission field and had never lost the passion for the people there. Terry's family was always a focal point of her life. She loved celebrating the holidays with family and friends, especially the Christmas season. Terry and Tony loved to cruise, and one of the highlights of Terry's recent years were a pair of family cruises, one with her children and grandchildren, and another with Tony's siblings. She is preceded in death by her parents Betty and Bill Thompson, her brother Mike Thompson, and her aunt Lois Long. She is survived by her husband Tony, son Patrick (Marni), daughter Heather Little (Mike), grandchildren Samantha Mills, Amanda Little, Jacob Little, and Josh Little, sisters-in-law Rhonda Thompson, Clarene Rosas, Jody Manchion (Ed), and Candy Mills, brother-in-law Mike Mills (Paula), as well as many other family and friends. Special thanks is extended to the staff and caregivers at Providence Place, and to a dear friend Georgia Jenkins. A memorial visitation service will be held on Monday, August 6th, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Lenexa Baptist Church located at 15320 W. 87th Street in Lenexa, KS. A celebration of her life will follow on Tuesday, August 7th, at 11:00AM at the same location. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Empower One Ministries, serving the people of South Sudan (https://empower-one.org)

Friends Lenexa , Kansas

I shared a love for the people of South Sudan with Terry and her husband Tony and was blessed to be able to take a trip there with them. On that trip I learned what a tender-hearted and compassionate woman Terry was. I saw her love for Jesus very clearly and there will be many in heaven because of the way she lived her life and the way she shared her faith. I'll always be thankful for knowing her and regret not knowing her even deeper. My husband Ken and I send our condolences to the family and pray that you experience God's comfort and peace during the coming days.

We were blessed to know and fellowship with Terry at Lenexa Baptist Church. We enjoyed her happy, loving attitude in Sunday School. She always showed her care and love for South Sudan and kept us up on the wonderful Christians there. Tony and family are in our prayers at this time.
