Her last year and a half was spent at the Welstone Independent Living Facility in Mission, KS. While Ernestine occasionally worked outside the home, her most rewarding job was being a mom to ten children. She was preceded in death by her first husband, James, her daughter, Joyce, her second husband, John Quinn, and her son, Tom. Tom died a couple hours prior to his mom on the same day. Ernestine leaves behind eight children. Six of those children live in the Kansas City area: Mary Holstrom Oxner (Sheldon), Kathy Stockton, Bob Nolan (Alice), Ann Super, Nancy Fossett, and Jim Nolan (Lisa). Other children include Jerry Nolan (Pam) of Sacramento, CA, and Pat Nolan (Jenni) of Orange Park, FL. Ernestine also leaves behind fourteen grandchildren, as well as eight great-grandchildren. The family wishes to sincerely thank Shawnee Mission Medical Center ICU staff for their care and support, as well as the Willed Body Program at University of Kansas Medical Center. Every school year, listening to my students' stories of family dysfunction, I was constantly reminded how extremely fortunate I was to have had you as my mom. You made our house a home and provided me with everything I needed. I'm so grateful we got to know one another as adults. My heartfelt loss is Heaven's gain.

You made me feel a part of this family from the first crazy Nolan Christmas. You became my grandma also that day. I already miss you terribly. Any time I drink a margarita I will always think of you and your zest for life!

Enter your relationship with Ernestine Nolan Quinn Enter your city ,

I migrated to Kansas City as a young adult. I was without family or many friends. Upon my first encounter with Ernestine, I found a wonderful woman, friend, and angel willing to be called an "adopted mother." I will miss her smile, hugs, conversation, and chocolate cake. Thank you for the special memories and confidence to plant my roots in the Kansas City area!

Ernestine was tiny but mighty. She raised such a great family, and I was blessed to have known her, and touched by her zest for life! She will not be forgotten but remembered everyday in our hearts.

My heartfelt condolences to the family at this difficult time. Reading about the beautiful legacy left behind by this amazing woman (her family and the memories of the many lives she touched) I am struck at how very much one individual life has the infinite capacity to spread joy and hope and love. May the family find comfort in the knowledge that their mother / grandmother / etc. left a lasting impact on this community and beyond and that she will be greatly missed.

We met your Mom at The Welstone at Mission Crossing in Mission, KS. She was a dear woman; spunky and full of life and interested in everything. We shared a love of books and she loaned us several of hers to read. She was friendly, outgoing and nice to everyone. We will miss her very much. Fred worked for the Union Pacific RR as did her first husband and several other members of the family, who we met at a Christmas party here in the lounge at Welstone. Our deepest condolences to all of you. Bernice (Bunny) and Fred Prediger
