Marjorie Ellen Botteron , Age: 88
December 06, 1929 -- July 04, 2018

Marjorie Ellen Botteron, 88, a 55-year resident of Lake Quivira, KS, died as she lived, with grace and dignity, at her home on July 4, 2018. The Fourth of July was one of Marjorie’s favorite holidays because it brought her family together. She passed away surrounded by loving family who miss her dearly but will never be without her endless spirit.

Marjorie was born in Kansas City, MO on Dec. 6, 1929 to William and Grace Wachter, the founders of an electrical contracting company, Wachter Electric. Marjorie and her husband, Jack G. Botteron Jr., later operated until the business was acquired by their son, Brad Botteron in 1992.

A graduate of Paseo High School, Marjorie married Jack in 1950 and moved to Lake Quivira in 1963 where they spent many happy days raising a family, sailing and entertaining family and friends. They both played a strong role in the Lake Quivira Sailing Club for over 2 decades and endless hours entertaining as Jack played in the Lake Quivira Funeral and Marching Dixieland Jazz Band. Most important to her were the countless family dinners, often for more than 20, that she could pull off seemingly effortlessly.

All who knew her were impressed by her kindness, and her genuine, generous smile was truly a physical representation of her inner soul. Her wonderful and unflappable character and grace caused family and friends to refer to her as “St. Marjorie.”

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Grace Wachter, her sister, Naoma Schott, and her husband, Jack. She is survived by her children Stephanie Botteron; Bradley Botteron and his wife Ann; Jennifer Botteron and her husband Scott Smith; and Dr. Gregory Botteron. Also survived by grandchildren Kendra Smalter; Jared Botteron; Katherine Bryan; Brian Botteron; Christen Gunther; Lauren Schipper; Sarah Botteron and Haley Botteron. As well as 10 great-grandchildren and her brother-in-law, Webster Schott of Lake Quivira, KS.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations be sent in her name to a charitable foundation of your choice. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 10, at 9:30 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 8616 Haskell, Kansas City, KS. Followed by services at 11 a.m. The Burial will be in the Edwardsville Cemetery, Edwardsville, KS. A Celebration of Life will follow at approximately 2 p.m. at the Lake Quivira Country Club.

We are so very sorry for your loss. Marjorie was a beautiful person with a loving heart. We enjoyed dinners and time at the lake with Marjorie and her family.
