Catherine Marcella (Walleck Christ) Williams , Age: 96
October 08, 1921 -- June 11, 2018

Catherine Marcella (Walleck Christ) Williams, 96, entered eternal rest the afternoon of June 11, 2018 at her home in Manhattan, KS. Visitation will be 12:00 -1:00 PM with Funeral Services at 1:00 PM Friday, June 15, at the Porter Funeral Home, 1835 Minnesota Ave. Kansas City, KS. Burial in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.

Born October 8, 1921 in Kansas City, KS the youngest child of Andrew & Mary (Samolis) Walleck, Catherine attended St. Casmir’s school and parish and later St. Peter’s Cathedral. She married John Christ in 1940 whom she divorced in 1946. In 1975, she married Wayne Williams. Together, they owned several properties in Kansas City, KS and Kansas City, MO. She worked at McPike Drug Company until a knee replacement forced her into retirement in 1986. Catherine enjoyed homemaking, hosting big family dinners and gardening. In recent years, she loved watching the wildlife outside her big kitchen window and beating her family almost every night at Wheel of Fortune. Catherine enjoyed the KC Star every morning and would read the obituaries first and jokingly say she wasn’t in there yet. She was proud to be mentioned in the newspaper two prior times with photos of scarecrows she made for her garden. Catherine enjoyed traveling to various places from Hawaii, driving the California coastline, horse races in Omaha to Toronto to watch the Royals play. Not much could keep Catherine down and she maintained a steady course forward no matter the circumstances. She grew up during the depression in a single parent household, raised 3 kids herself while working full time, beat breast cancer, tirelessly provided care to her husband and daughter during their final days and in her 90s survived not one, but two fractured hips including a replacement as well as a fractured pelvis. Her strong spirit never wavered, not even in her final hours.

Catherine was preceded in death by her husband Wayne Williams, parents, brother, Andrew Walleck and sisters Mary Walleck, Elsie Yurkovich, Anna McGrew Hackney Hamm & Agnes Long, daughter Alice and son-in-law Walter Witt as well as Labradors Bella & Ruby. She is survived by her granddaughter and caregivers of 16 years, Jennifer (Thomas) O’Briant of the home and great-grandson Tyler O’Briant of Austin, TX, son, John (Donna) Christ, daughter Joyce (Larry) Pulver, grandchildren Steve & Danny Christ, Julie Gunter, Brenda Uziel, Cindy Cruit, John Christ Jr. &  Emily Christ. Great Grandchildren Debbie, Ashlee & Jeremy Christ, Rachel & Hannah Uziel, Jessic Millman, Anthony & Joshua Cruit,   great-great grandchildren Matthew Wiggins, Anthony, Benjamin & Brianna Logan, Robyn & Cheyanne Christ, Isaaa Frano & Bryon Billingsley, Jr. and numerous other extended family as well as her beloved German Shepherd Hank who stood guard during her final days.

May she rest in eternal peace. Eik Su Dieva
