Gregory Charles Maltby , Age: 60
June 09, 1957 -- April 25, 2018

Gregory Charles Maltby, 60, of Overland Park, KS, died Wednesday, April 25, 2018. Visitation will be from 10-11:00 AM with a Memorial Mass starting at 11:00 AM, Saturday, May 19th at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 11300 W. 103rd Street, Overland Park, KS.

Greg was born June 9, 1957, in Arkansas City, KS. He graduated from Wetmore High School, Wetmore, KS, and continued on to the University of Kansas for his Undergraduate and Master’s degrees in Computer Science. He was one of the first Jayhawks to be a part of their new CS program back when it was still in the Liberal Arts College. His passion for the Jayhawks and his school inspired both of his children to attend KU. Greg continued his love of learning up through his 50s by taking more CS courses which also enabled him to go to KU games with his kids during their undergraduates. Greg worked in the evolving computer science landscape from New Orleans, Boston, to Kansas City. He loved solving problems. His final position was as a Senior Integrated Technologies Owner at Cerner Corporation. His children were the only things he loved more than anything else in this world. He was always down to catch a beer, watch the game, or tell a story that had a great moral but wasn’t relevant to what you had been talking about. He is preceded in death by his mother, Donna M Branch Maltby. Greg is survived by his two children, Brianna and Garrett Maltby, his father Daniel D. Maltby, his four siblings, Daniel P, John, Arlan Maltby, and Jan Wickersheim, and extended family.

To the Maltby Family: I’m sorry for your loss. Greg has left us way to early. He loved life and I enjoyed working with him or against him in school. Nothing will bring him back, but I will pray that it becomes easier for you soon. This loss never goes away but becomes less traumatic as time passes. My thoughts and prayers are with your family. God Bless.
