Wietske Pasman , Age: 95
May 20, 1922 -- April 06, 2018

Wietske Pasman, 95, of Lenexa passed away April 4, 2018. Celebration of her life begins at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 10 at Porter Funeral Home, 8535 Monrovia, Lenexa. There will be a short memorial service. Private inurnment will be at Mt. Moriah Cemetery.

Wietske was born May 20, 1922, the eldest daughter of Coenraad and Alida (Van Essen) DeHaan, in Zeist, The Netherlands. Wietske is preceded in death by her husband, Theodore in 1989; sister, Bertha; two brothers, Cornelius and Willem DeHaan. She is survived by her daughter, Annette Matsumoto and husband Gene; daughter, Alice White and husband Art; son, Henri Pasman and wife Annemieke; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; two brothers, Coen and Gerrit DeHaan.

Our mother spent her childhood in The Netherlands. She met our father soon after World war II ended and they were married in August, 1945. Our father was an adventurous man who like to travel. In 1950 he had an opportunity to work for the Dutch government on the island of Curacao in the Dutch West Indies. We spent our childhood on Curacao and our brother was born there. After he took an early retirement our parents moved to the United States. During his retirement our father contracted with the United Nations and our parents spent some six months in Indonesia and several months in Trinidad. During all this moving around the world there were also trips back to The Netherlands to visit family and vacations to Costa Rica, other Caribbean islands, a number of European countries and more. Our mother saw much more of the world that she could have ever imagined growing up. Our parents were not wealthy but outside of the war years my mother never knew hunger and always had a dependable roof over her head. She had a good life although there were various ups and downs that happen during any one’s lifetime. She had a good sense of humor and didn’t have a bad bone in her body.

Our mother spent her last six years at Garden Villas where she was well cared for. May she rest in peace.  In lieu of flowers please make a donation to a charity of your choice.
