February 22, 1922 -- April 04, 2018

James D. Carney, 96, of Prairie Village, KS died Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at Park Meadows. The visitation will be at 10 a.m. Friday, April 13 at St. Rose Philippine Duchesne, 5035 Rainbow Blvd., Mission Woods, KS with the Requiem Mass at 11 a.m. Burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to St. Rose Parish or to any Pro-Life organization. Jim was born February 22, 1922, in Galeton, CO and lived in the Kansas City area since 1940. He served his country as a Navy Fighter Pilot during World War II. After retiring from Equitable Life Assurance Co. Jim created and managed the Personnel Dept. for Mid Central/Sysco Foods. He was a member of St. Rose Parish and was an avid golfer, who played his final round at age 93 at Painted Hills, his favorite course. Jim is survived by his wife of 71 years, Elizabeth, 11 children and their spouses, Mary and Charlie Martin, Jim Carney II, John and Randi Carney, Don and Linda Carney, Joan Carney, Paul and Julie Carney, Tom and Mary Carney, Therese Carney and Paul Brazell, Dan and Allison Carney, Aimee Gabel, Chris and Millie Carney and a multitude of grandchildren and great grandchildren.

I am sorry I never met James but I know that he had to be a great man to have molded the great family that he has left behind. I have met most of the family and they are all wonderful people. He was blessed and he blessed them. May he rest in eternal peace.
