Jerry L. Brown , Age: 76
September 13, 1941 -- March 10, 2018

Jerry L. Brown, 76, Overland Park, KS, passed away Saturday, March 10, 2018. Jerry was born September 13, 1941 in Kansas City, KS to Paul and Marie Brown. He attended St. Anthony’s grade school, Bishop Ward High School, and graduated from the University of Kansas in 1964. Jerry excelled in sports and received scholarships in both football and baseball at MU and KU. His greatest love was baseball and he continued to share his passion for the game through many years of coaching teams in youth baseball. Jerry began his career at Hallmark Cards in sales then worked in commercial real estate leasing in Kansas City, Texas and South Carolina. He ended his career returning to his Hallmark roots by owning a greeting card distributorship with his wife, Danna. Jerry was outgoing and social and enjoyed talking to everyone he met. His interests included music and singing and over 25 years in the Cure of Ars church choir along with many years in the Johnson County Community College Chorale among others. He enjoyed many rounds of golf with friends at Blue Hills Country Club and Deer Creek golf course. Jerry did not know a stranger and was always willing to lend a hand or give a word of encouragement to his friends and family. He spent a lot of his later years attending concerts and sporting events for his 14 grandchildren, frequenting daily Mass and distributing the Eucharist to patients at Menorah Medical Center. He was well-loved by his choir families, golfing buddies and lifelong friends from grade school and beyond. Jerry is survived by his wife Danna of 53 years, children Randy (Pam) Brown, Rick (Ellen) Brown, Jannie (Dave) Barr, and Scott (Aimee) Brown and grandchildren: Alex, Kelsey, Evan, Jordan, Jessie, Will, Maggie, Jake, Katie, Tyler, Abby, Matt, Anna and Emily. He will be greatly missed by all. Condolences may be expressed at: www.porterfuneralhome.com Arr: Porter Funeral Homes & Crematory, 8535 Monrovia, Lenexa, KS (913) 438-6444.
