Francis Willard `Fran` Porch , Age: 76
March 31, 1941 -- February 18, 2018

Captain Francis W. Porch Lieutenant Colonel USAF 1941-2018 Francis (Fran) Porch, 76 of Overland Park, Kansas passed away on February 18, 2018. Born in Mt. Pleasant, PA to Ralph and Jean (Newill) Porch. Fran graduated from the United States Air Force Academy in 1963. He served on active duty for 6 years as a RF-4C pilot. He flew 100 missions over enemy territory in Vietnam and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, 9 Air Medals with Oak Leaf Cluster, and The Air Force Commendation Medal. Fran then served in the USAF reserves and had a 32 year career as a pilot for United Airlines. As a native of Pennsylvania, he was an avid fan of all Pittsburgh sports teams. He loved coaching his son’s baseball teams, spending time with his family and incredibly tight knit group of friends, and a good Manhattan. He will be lovingly remembered as a wonderful husband, father, brother and friend. Fran is survived by his wife of 52 years, Darleen (Kerwin), children and grandchildren, Christopher & Suzanne (Ryan, Jack), Bradley & Jennifer (Jackson, Ben, Brian), Darrin & Leslie (Grant, Katie, Ian), and by his siblings, Penny Porch, Pam Porch, and Tom Porch. Memorial service will be held at 10:00am Thursday, February 22nd at Church of the Ascension 9510 W 127th St, Overland Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any contributions be sent to, Class of ’63 Memorial Fund: Attn: Mr. Les Denend, 1300 Hobart St., Menlo Park, Ca 94025. Note: In honor of Lt. Col. Fran Porch Darleen and family wish to thank everyone for their love, support, and caring this past week. A very special thank you to the Ascension parish, especially Fr. Tom, Jean Hinman and Judy and Craig Arnold for their help and guidance.
