Betty Jo McAulay , Age: 97
May 18, 1920 -- February 05, 2018

A true angel on earth, Betty Jo McAulay, 97, formerly of Olathe, KS, returned to the arms of her Savior Monday, February 5, 2018 at Overland Park Regional Medical Center. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 10, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 13615 West 92nd Street, Lenexa, KS, with burial in Resurrection Cemetery in Lenexa. A visitation will be held at the church at 9:30 a.m. preceding the funeral. The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Heart Association or to any charity that is special to you.

Betty was born May 18, 1920 in Oklahoma City, OK, daughter of Ofa Issac Peugh and Sarah (Miller) Peugh. She lived in approximately 20 different cities throughout the United States in her lifetime, mostly in Tulsa, Saint Louis, Olathe and Lenexa. She attended Oklahoma State University and was an avid fan of the Kansas City Royals and Chiefs. In her younger years she and Fred enjoyed playing golf and tennis.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick, in 2004, a daughter, Mary Jo Waldorf in May 2003, a sister, Barbara Smith, in 2005 and a sister, Marthelle Gose Christman, in 2012. Betty is survived by daughter, Patricia Anne Heitschmidt, Lenexa, KS, son Frederick Lawrence McAulay, Jr. (Larry), daughter-in-law Carol McAulay, Lenexa, KS, son-in-law Robert Waldorf, three grandchildren and spouses, Robert and Anne Waldorf, Deborah and Stan Manis and Thomas Waldorf, and seven great grandchildren, Allison, Hannah, Brandon and Logan Waldorf, and Owen, Gavin and Jakob Manis.

Betty had a strong faith in God and taught her children the power of faith and positive thinking. Anytime her children had a challenging day or were traveling, she would pray for them at the exact time that her supporting love was needed. She will always be dearly loved by everyone who knew her and felt blessed to have her in their life.

The family wishes to thank the many staff members at Delmar Gardens of Overland Park for their friendship and their kind and compassionate care since 2015.
