Naomi M. Eastwood , Age: 94
May 11, 1923 -- January 23, 2018

Naomi Eastwood, 94 years of age, passed away quietly at the Lakeview Village Care Center in Lenexa, KS on January 23, 2018. She was born on May 11th, 1923 in Atchison, KS to Charles and Nellie Roloff. The family moved to Kansas City, KS when she was very young and she lived in the Kansas City area the rest of her life. She attended Park Grade School, Central Junior High and Wyandotte High School (Class of 1941). She was trained as a comptometer operator and worked at various local businesses after graduation. She loved to roller skate and was able to dance on skates at a near professional level. One evening in early 1939, she met the “love of her life” at the El Torian Roller Rink in Kansas City, MO. Gene Eastwood could barely stand on roller skates so she helped him stay “vertical” as they went around the rink. With her petite figure, flowing blonde hair and his handsome good looks, they made quite a striking couple. They were married in 1944. After his U.S. Coast Guard service during WWII in the Pacific, they returned to Kansas City, KS to make their home. They had one son, Garry. They were members of Washington Avenue Methodist church (later Trinity Methodist Church) for many years. During their life together, they traveled extensively in the United States and Canada along with several trips to Europe. They “wintered” in San Benito, TX for over 10 years at the Fun & Sun Resort. After Gene’s passing in 1991, she moved to Lakeview Village where she lived very happily for the rest of her life. In her “Senior Years”, she loved ballroom dancing and was a frequent participant at the senior dances in the Lenexa area. She leaves a son (Garry Eastwood) and daughter-in-law (Charlene Eastwood) of Scottsdale, AZ, two grand-daughters (Aimee Eastwood and Cara Eastwood-Baldwin) both of Fort Collins, CO and two great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on February 5, 2018 at the Porter Funeral Home, 8535 Monrovia, in Lenexa at 11:00 am, with the visitation from 9:30-11 a.m. Burial will follow at Chapel Hills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Kansas City Chapter of the American Heart Association.
