Charles C. Thacker , Age: 85
July 07, 1932 -- January 14, 2018

Charles C. Thacker (Charlie) was born on July 7, 1932 to Charles and Annie Thacker (Conlin) in Cole Camp MO. Charlie died peacefully in his sleep at his home in Lenexa on Sunday, January 14th. Charlie married Georgiann Diesko in 1954. They had five children Larry (Anne), Loretta (Greg Russell), Phil, (Becky), Rob (Denise), and Greg (Suzanne Smith). The family lived in Independence, MO until 1968 when they moved to Lenexa, KS. Charlie worked in the grocery business his entire life starting at A&P, Cherokee and Westpark United Super, & Lenexa Thriftway along with several other stores. He finished his work life with 21 years at the receiving door of Queens Price Chopper where he was know lovingly as "Back-door Charlie." Charlie loved camping, car rides, vacationing and his family. He watched the Royals and the Chiefs on TV along with just about anything else. He and Georgiann spent most Thursday evenings enjoying casual dinners with their grown children and often one, two or more of their nine grandchildren. There was rarely a dull moment once the grandchildren came along. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church since 1968. Survivors include his wife Georgiann, nine grandchildren; David, Christopher, Emily, Zachary, Courtney, Hannah, Haley, Conlin and Benit. Two great-grandchildren Jadyn and Nia. He will also be greatly missed by his Price Chopper family who he loved. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 17th at Porter Funeral Home, Lenexa, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. with Rosary being said at 5:30 pm.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 13615 W 92nd Street, Lenexa, KS. on Thursday January 18th at 10:30 am followed by burial at Resurection Cemetery, Lenexa. Donations can be made to The Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, American Diabetes Foundation or Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Lenexa.
