Marjorie K Blank , Age: 92
June 13, 1925 -- December 18, 2017

Marjorie King Blank met her Lord and Savior on Monday, December 18th, surrounded by her loving family. Born on June 13, 1925 to John & Margaret King, she didn’t just live for 92 years, she made a concerted effort to live each day with meaning and purpose. Marge was many things to many people, including: a lifelong learner with a Doctorate in Education, a loving mother to 3 sons, Larry (Elizabeth) Hunter-Blank; Doug (Marci) Blank and Ray (Theresa (D)) Blank along with four grandsons Steve, David, Jonathan and Christopher. She was a cherished wife to Donald Eugene Blank, who preceded her in death by nearly 31 years. She became an intrepid world traveler in retirement, visiting all but one continent (Antarctica). She was a career woman and educator when women didn’t traditionally hold careers, retiring with the title of Dean of Student Services at the Kansas City, Kansas Community College. She was particularly proud of helping to launch their first child care center. She was inducted into the Mid-America Education Hall of Fame in 1998 for her lifelong work and contributions to the field. Marge was a person of strong faith, serving in numerous local, regional and national leadership positions within the Presbyterian Church and as a member of the Overland Park Presbyterian Church, She spent her life committed to charity, peace and community service. Visitation will be held at Porter Funeral Home, 8535 Monrovia, Lenexa, KS on Wednesday, December 20th between 5:00 and 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at the Overland Park Presbyterian Church, currently meeting at the Overland Park Lutheran Church building, 7810 W. 79 St. on Thursday, December 21st at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to donate to the Shepherd’s Center of Kansas City, Kansas where she served on the board for more than 20 years. We will miss Marjorie Blank. She was to be our new Historian for our chapter. I'm sorry as Kansas Governor I will be unable to make the visitation and funeral. I will be going out of town on Dec. 20 and I will not return until Jan. 7th.

We worked together at KCKCC for many years Kansas City , Kansas

Marge was my supervisor for many years in Student Services. She certainly was an asset to the college. (very dependable, dedicated to her job, did things right, worked hard for the development of the college) Her desk might have been a mess but she knew where everything was. She might have been late to many meeting but you could always depend on her. Education has lost a trooper. We will miss her. Sorry I can't be there but am traveling to Texas to be with family.

Your sorrow is mine as well. Marjorie and I worked the credentials and registration each of the last 2 years at the KS DAC State Conference. She was such a delight, lovely smile, warm, friendly. She will be greatly missed at conference this year. It is a blessing to have known her.
