Walter Robert Reyhle, 94, of Overland Park KS passed away Sunday, July 25, 2021, at Park Meadows Memory Care. An only child of Balthasar and Ottilia, German immigrants, Walter was born in Kansas City Missouri, on June 27, 1927.
He was a loving husband to Virginia for 65 years, and a devoted father to Steve (Judy), Overland Park, Kansas and Linda (Bob Williams), of Charlotte, North Carolina.
He treasured his 5 grandchildren: Eric, Daniel (Julie), and Patrick, Melissa Williams Snapp (Dave), and Robbie Williams (Sabrina). He was also blessed with 9 great-grandchildren: Claire and Jackson Reyhle, Sylvia and Maryn Reyhle, David, Lucas and Cole Snapp, and Owen and Pierce Williams.
Walter was proud to have served in the U.S. Army, WWII, and had a 42-year career at Bendix Corporation as a facilities engineer. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, hunting, spectator sports, playing cards with friends, and listening to music and adding vocal harmonies to the songs. With the family, traveling was on his list of favorite things to do. Celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary, Walter and Virginia were fortunate to visit Germany, where he served in the military and Ulm, the city from where his parents immigrated.
He was a devout Catholic and a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus. His loved ones will certainly miss his calm demeanor, his clever comebacks, (“well that’s for the birds, and even they wouldn’t like it!”) his beautiful, contagious smile, and never-ending interest in each of their lives and activities.
A Visitation will be held from 10-11:00 a.m. Friday, July 30, 2021 with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00 a.m. at Cure of Ars Catholic Church, 9401 Mission Rd, Leawood, Kansas.
In lieu of flowers and for their exceptional care, contributions may be made to Ascend Hospice, Attn: Levi McCall, 783 N.E. Anderson Lane, Lee’s Summit, MO 64064.
