Aug 16, 1986---Apr 26, 2021

Robert Daniel Kunz, 34, of Overland Park, KS passed away unexpectedly on April 26th, 2021 at his residence in Overland Park. The Private funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 8th at Porter Funeral Homes in Lenexa, Kansas for close friends and family only. A Public (open to everyone) Visitation for friends will be from 11-1pm Saturday, May 8th at Porter Funeral Home followed by the burial in Resurrection Catholic Cemetery. Later, there will be a celebration of life at Maloney’s at 7201 W. 79th Street, Overland Park, KS starting at 6pm, all are welcome.

He was born August 16, 1986 in Kansas City, the son of Bob and Patty(English) Kunz. He graduated from Bishop Miege High School in 2005 and went on to attend Kansas State University. After school Danny followed his dreams and started his own Lawn and Landscape Company, KC Lawn Stars. He was very talented and passionate which showed through his loyal customers who praised him for his kindness, creativity and determination to always go above and beyond for everyone he worked for.

He took pleasure in the simpler things in life such as being surrounded by family, riding on his John Deere, watching the Chiefs win, and drinking a beer and wakeboarding at the Lake of the Ozarks. He had a heart of gold, a smile that warmed many hearts and a laugh that was like music to hear. He was a genuine and sensitive man and most importantly very caring and always took extra time to make the people around him feel special, especially his family. His blue eyes will live on in our hearts forever.

Danny is survived by his parents Bob and Patty Kunz, his younger sisters Stephanie and Emily and grandmother Janet Kunz. He is also survived by family members including aunts, uncles and cousins and many close friends as well as his long time girlfriend, Alyssa Tillotson.

You will be missed by me and my family, and all of the neighbors you took care of. I was always excited to see you in the neighborhood, and loved having conversations with you. I already miss you my friend. Your crew was at my house today doing a spectacular mowing job just like you would have expected them to do! We are praying for your family and friends. Your memory will be a blessing to all of us.

I am so sad to hear of Danny passing. His recent years were so positive as his company flourished and he genuine enjoyed his profession. Always giving me suggestions for my lawn. And his travels with his family brought him great joy. May his memory be a blessing for us all.

Oh Danny, you have no idea how much you meant to so many! Your smile and kindness will always be remembered! Thank you for your chats, laughs, and generosity supporting Bella’s softball team the past couple of years! My kids adored you and thought of you more than just our “lawn wizard guy”...you were definitely so much more than that...we considered you a sweet friend that my kids looked up to! We were so proud of you for the way you grew your business, and so impressed with how you treated all of your clients...most of them you treated like your best friends and family who all loved you!! We will miss your smile. We will miss your laughs. We will miss your chats about big trucks, dreamy landscaping ideas, and more importantly, we will miss you! You have left a hole in our hearts, and we will forever drive through the neighborhood looking for your big white truck, listening for the sound of mowers firing up, and you for a quick chat and a wave. We will always say to ourselves, WWDD? What Would Danny Do? for our next lawn or Christmas light project. Rest in eternal peace my friend! -Diggs family!

I recently re-connected with Danny about 2 years ago through business. His outlook on life and business was one I will never forget. He was always filled with positivity.. I would see him off Mission road & 140th Dr cul’de’sac and I would ALWAYS go out of my way to talk to Danny.. I remember many times talking for over an hour... cheerful in all weathers.. I will never forget his smile and one of a kind personality. We shared many laughs in that cul’de’sac. They don’t make em like Danny anymore. I would do large scale tree jobs for Dannys customers through Danny - with the shake of a hand- zero hesitation or worry.. salt of the earth kind of guy. Everyone loved Danny. Like many others I will miss Danny. Words fail to express my deep sorrow for the Kunz Family and close friends of Danny’s.

Bob, Patty, Stephanie, Emily and Janet: We were so devastated to hear of Danny's passing - I just started crying! Even though we personally haven't seen Danny recently, he was Jeffrey's friend and I remembered those fun grade school and high school days! I talked to Jeffrey and he so wishes he could be here to celebrate Danny's wonderful, yet unfortunately, too short life. Please know we have been, and will continue to think of all of you who loved Danny so very much, his great smile and beautiful, blue eyes! May you be comforted that he is enjoying all the beauty of God's eternal love with family and friends that have gone before us.

Bob and Patty, I am so saddened by Danny's passing. It was a joy to work with him the last few years and I will miss seeing him out on the lawns we worked on together. He was truly devoted to his business, his employees, and his customers. His work ethic was second to none. As I have been traveling the work route that he serviced, I have had so many people stop me to convey their sympathy. There will be no replacement for the joy he brought to his customers. I wish you and your family peace in this difficult time. Sincerely, Nick Annin
