Sherry L. Bishop, 93, of Overland Park, KS, passed away Monday, March 29, 2021. Memorial visitation will be from 2:00-4:00 PM, Thursday, April, 1, 2021 at Porter Funeral Home, 1835 Minnesota Ave., Kansas City, KS.  Graveside Services will be 11:00 AM Friday at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.  In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to the Humane Society of Greater Kansas City.

Sherry was born November 2, 1927, in Columbus, KS.  She served in the United States Army.  She was a foreman for International Harvesters Co. for 30 years retiring in 1981.  Sherry was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Senior Bowling League, Eagles Auxiliary #87, Eagles REAC, RSVP, Media Committee at Trinity, Keystone Sunday School Class, KCKCC Endowment Foundation, Navistar Retirees Club, WY Players Patron, Indian Springs Walkers Club, and a volunteer at Providence Medical Center.  Sherry was preceded in death by her husband Wilburn W. Bishop, her parents, 5 sisters and her brother.  She is survived by her daughter Becky Waitkoss.

I met Sherry when I worked summers at International Harvesters during my college years in the 50’s. She was always pleasant with a smile on her face. Years later we renewed our friendship when she would come to activities at Zion UCC with Romaine Best. Romaine and my Mother Icie Fendorf were good friends. I also enjoyed her letters to the editor she wrote to the Kansas City Star. Sending sympathy to her family. Hers was a life well lived and I am so glad I got to know her. Marilyn Gunderman
