Nancy Manning, 77, Shawnee, KS passed away Tuesday March 23, 2021 at Shawnee PARC Post Acute and Rehabilitation Center from complications of a stroke and heart disease. Memorial Services will be held at St Joseph Catholic Church, 11311 Johnson Dr, Shawnee, KS. Visitation will be held at the church at 10am with a memorial mass at 10:30 and burial following at Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa, KS. Nancy was born February 28, 1944 the daughter of Dorothy Bartlett of Brunswick, Maine. Her early years in Maine were spent enjoying the ocean and visiting the lobster boats across the street from her Aunt Florence’s house to pick the best fresh lobster. Those early years led to a lifelong love for the ocean.

At 18, Nancy moved to Connecticut to live with her cousin Paul and his wife Rita and started her first job where she met her husband Jack. They relocated to Kansas City in 1965 and lived in the Overland Park/Shawnee area for 56 years. Nancy worked in retail over the years and eventually worked as a bank teller for Commerce Bank and Gold Bank where she met many lifelong friends.

Nancy was a devoted wife, mother, grandma, mother-in-law and devoted friend. She and Jack were married for over 55 years and were members of St Joseph’s Catholic Church for over 40 years. She was an avid antique shopper with her dear friend Pat and was constantly repainting and decorating rooms in her house with the latest colors and trends. She loved gardening and her yard was always the most beautiful yard on their street.

Her greatest gift was her ability to lend a listening ear to anyone that needed to talk. She was always there for support and loved attending her grandchildren’s football, baseball and cheerleading events. Every year she took her grandkids separately for their favorite lunch and back to school shopping trip. She continued this tradition through college.

Nancy is preceded in death by her husband Jack, mother, Dorothy Bartlett and survived by her brother Charles Bartlett of WA and niece Donna Miller, WA, son, Mike and (wife) Chrissy Manning, Olathe, KS,  grandchildren McKenzie and Cole Manning,  daughter, Christine and (husband) Brian Christiansen, Lawrence, KS and step granddaughter Izzy.
