Margret Elaine Donnelly, 81, died Friday, March 5, 2021 at the Lakeview Care Center in Lenexa, KS after a lingering illness.  The family is planning a graveside service later this spring at St. Joseph Cemetery in Casey, Iowa where her husband Ed was laid to rest in January 2004.

Margret was born July 28, 1939 to Elsie and Frank Schagunn in Newman Grove, NE.  She lived on the farm with her parents and sisters, Eloise and Carol, until moving to Omaha to become a nurse.  She married Edward C. Donnelly in April 1964 and they moved to Waterloo, IA and then to Keystone, IA.  She continued working in the nursing profession until her retirement in 2001.  She lived in Keystone, IA until moving to Lenexa, KS in 2012 to be near her son Bruce and his family.   

Survivors include sisters, Eloise Schnieder of Colorado Springs, CO and Carol Schagunn of Oakdale, MN; children Bruce and wife Brenda of Lenexa, KS, Richard and wife Debi of Cedar Falls, IA, Patricia Rufer of Fort Myers, FL; her grandchildren Megan Netherton and husband Tim of Prairie Village, KS, Ryan Donnelly of Kansas City, MO, Shannin Porter of Chicago, IL and Chad Rufer and wife Karen of Sacramento, CA.   

In addition to her parents, Margret was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Clarence Donnelly.

The family asks that any memorials be sent to Good Shepherd Hospice, 1317 S Fountain Dr., Olathe, KS 66061 in appreciation for the wonderful care they provided in her final days.
