Kristi Ann Parker, 70, of Leawood, KS passed away Sunday, February 28th, 2021 at St. Luke’s Hospital.
Kristi was born September 22, 1950, in Panama City, FL. She was the second child of Darrell and Marjorie Authier. After moving several times in her early life, the family settled in Overland Park, KS in 1965. Finishing high school at Shawnee Mission South in 1968, she continued her education at the University of Kansas, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology in 1972. She married Bruce W. Parker, on November 24, 1979. Their marriage produced two children and two wonderful grandchildren. Kristi and Bruce celebrated their 41st wedding anniversary last year.
Following college graduation, Kristi worked at St. Luke’s Hospital in the chemistry department as a clinical lab scientist for 42 years. Kristi will forever be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother, a devoted wife and a well respected member of her community. She was known for her quick wit and her shoot ‘em straight attitude. She was a sports enthusiast for her beloved Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas Jayhawks. She was a Jeopardy whiz, an avid bridge player, and a lover of great books and music.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Alan Authier. She is survived by her loving husband, Bruce W. Parker, two children and two grandchildren: son, Michael Parker, daughter-in-law, Ellen, and granddaughters Hazel and Roslyn Parker, of Mission, KS.; daughter, Sarah Gregar, son-in-law, Thomas Gregar, of Overland Park, KS. She is also survived by her sister Amy (Dee) Bird, of Castle Rock, CO, and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held on April 10th, 2021 from 9-11 in the morning at Porter Funeral Home, 8535 Monrovia, Lenexa, KS. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to the American Heart Association.
