Dorothy G. M. Sheller (nee Sleyster-Woodring) passed away peacefully on February 7th, 2021. Dorothy was a beloved Wife, Mother, and Grandmother. Dorothy was born on May 25th, 1937 in Kansas City, MO. She was a graduate of Park Hill High School and St. Mary’s Nursing School. Dorothy married John Royer Sheller, Jr in June of 1955 with whom she recently celebrated her 65th wedding anniversary. She was a passionate animal lover and enjoyed spending as much time as possible with her grandchildren who were the light of her life. Dorothy is survived by her husband John Royer (Jack) Sheller, Jr of the home; her children John Royer (Jay) Sheller III of Dallas, TX; David B. Sheller and his wife Stephanie of Kansas City, MO; and Nancy K Wilcox and her husband Arthur (Art) of Shawnee, KS. She is also survived by her grandchildren Cody Wilcox, Kylie Wilcox, Jackson Sheller, and Zachary Sheller. She was the heart of her family and will be forever missed. A graveside service will be held on February 19th, 2021 at 1:30pm at Leavenworth National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Dorothy’s name be made to Children’s Mercy Hospital and Great Plains SPCA.
