Calvin S. Taylor, 82, Shawnee, KS, died Wednesday, February 3rd, at the Kansas City Hospice House.  Visitation will be held at 9:30 a.m. with a Memorial Mass at 10:00 a.m. on February 8th, 2021, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 11311 Johnson Dr., Shawnee, KS.  Inurnment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, 61st Terr & Quivira, Shawnee, KS.  The Mass may be viewed at https://stjoeshawnee.weconnect.com/live-stream. 

Calvin was born on March 22, 1938 in Jefferson SD, the son of Robert Taylor and Rita Chartier Taylor.  He received a Bachelor’s degree from the University of South Dakota and a Master’s degree from Southern Michigan University.  Cal worked for the government for over 30 years.  He loved country music and was well known to local disc jockeys as a frequent radio contest winner.  A favorite pastime of Cal’s was playing tennis, which he enjoyed until the age of 82. He and Kathy were avid travelers and had some wonderful adventures and great memories. 

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Kathleen, five children Todd (Theresa) Taylor, Lisa (David) Chamness, Tara Spalding, Mark Taylor, Erin (Kevin) May, eight grandchildren Isaac & Ava Taylor, Casey & Jason Chamness, Chandler & Trevor Spalding, Ashley (Daniel) Lawrence & Jacob May, three great-grandchildren Kaden & Kyler Chamness & Paisley Lawrence, and siblings Stephen Taylor & Dorothy (Scott) Chase.
