Josephine Marie Nedrow, 100, passed away February 4, 2021 at Research Medical Center. Visitation will be at Porter Funeral Home, 8535 Monrovia, Lenexa, Ks. from 4 to 6 p.m., Monday, February 8, 2021 where the rosary will be said at 4 p.m. Mass of the Christian Burial will be 10:00 am Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Shawnee, Ks. Burial to follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa, Ks. Josephine was born in Troy, Ks. August 6, 1920 to Joseph and Mabel Brock. She was preceded in death by her husband Leroy Nedrow, son Mark Nedrow, her parents and three brothers. She is survived by two sons Michael and wife Karen, and Frank, and Mark’s wife Barbara, two granddaughters Beth Kearns and Rebecca Nedrow, two grandsons Michael and wife Adrien Nedrow, Taylor Nedrow and wife Dr. Cameon Blake, two great grandchildren Micayla Nedrow, Cooper Kearns and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Josephine was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She graduated from St. James Grammar School and The Covenant of the Sacred Heart High School in St. Joseph, Mo. She graduated as a Registered Nurse from the St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing on September 7, 1941. After graduation Josephine worked at the Atchison, KS Hospital until October 1942 when she enlisted as 2nd Lt. Registered Nurse in the United States Army. She was assigned first as a General Duty Nurse at Camp Crowder in MO and later was promoted to 1st Lt. as an Administrative Nurse at Camp Shelby in MS. After the war Josephine worked for many years as an RN at St. Luke’s Hospital on the Plaza in Kansas City, Mo. She was married to Leroy Nedrow on February 16, 1943 and raised three sons Frank, Michael and Mark. Besides her family Josephine's favorite things in life were the three Ford Mustangs she owned over the years, playing bridge with friends and especially she loved her flowers. She had several flower gardens around her house and was especially proud of the more than 50 roses which she took care of every year. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. The family suggests memorial contributions to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Shawnee, Ks.
