I want to offer my condolences to Sharon's family. I met Sharon when I worked at the YMCA, sometime between 2009-2017. If I were to describe Sharon, I would describe her as full of life --the life of the party. Her fashion style was colorful, vibrant and worn without abandon. She was her own person. I had the pleasure of going out with her and another friend to a casino to watch the Chippendale's, have dinner, and play a few slot machines. It was a very fun evening. I remember her winning money that night and directing me to the machine I should play and she was right...it was a winner! I would say that Sharon was a unicorn --unique and rare. She will be missed! RIP my sweet friend ♥️

To Ken and her daughters, Dear Sharon (Sassy) was a true friend at the Y and always a joy to be around. Her quick humor, outlandish party costumes, and concern for others even when she did not feel well, have left a void that cannot be filled when we return to the Y after the pandemic. She is already sorely missed. Rest in peace dear Sassy and hold a spot up there for us.

It’s hard to adequately describe the impact she has had on my life. When Marni and I discovered we were sisters-from-another-mother on the first day of 3rd grade at St. Pat’s, Sharon and Ken became my second set of parents. I spent almost as much time at their house as my own. (no brothers to deal with there!) I remember when she had what I considered was the best job in the whole world – Baskin-Robbins! We would call and beg her to bring us home ice cream and she always would….even though that meant dealing with two sugar-hyper 11 year olds that would stay up until the wee hours. (To this day, I cannot look at a 31 Flavors and not think of her!) She was always so patient, funny, and loving and she’s going to be missed tremendously. My love and my prayers are with you!

Sherri and I, and our other friends from our high school group, were always together for every high school football or basketball game. In the summer, we would all still get together as good friends. Sherri and I were the tennis players. We went our separate ways during our college years, going to different colleges. We met up again after my family returned to Overland Park for a few years. That is when I met Ken and the girls when they were very young. Then my family moved again and I lost touch with her again. Then our high school held its 50th reunion, which Sherri and Ken attended but I did not. I saw pictures of Sherri and Ken from that reunion and read a few comments about her through the reunion newsletter.it was through that reunion newsletter that I saw Sherri had past away. I’ll always remember her as a great friend.

I am sorry for you loss. I didn't find out until today in the Wyandotte Class 63. Ken I remember when we would get together for Y Indian Princesses and Sherry would look in on us. I think one of the girls goes to LBC and if she sees me I hope she will re introduce herself. I will be praying for your family as you go through this time of grieving.
