Apr 18, 1934---Jan 15, 2021

Mary Louise (Curtis) Mance, of Edwardsville, KS , passed away on January 15, 2021 at Parkway Care and Rehabilitation Center at the age of 86.  She was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother and great grandmother.  We loved her so much and were so proud of her the way she handled her medical struggles these past 12 years.  She was a fighter and fought till the end.  She would do anything to help you if you needed it.

Mary was a lifetime resident of Kansas City, Kansas.  She was born on April 18, 1934 in Kansas City, Kansas to Charles Curtis and Effie (Long) Curtis.  She attended the Northwest High School.

She was united in marriage to Theodore W. Mance on September 10, 1949 and enjoyed 59 ½ years of marriage before her husband’s death.

She loved cooking for her family on the holidays and having Sunday dinners and just spending time with her family.  She loved going on monthly trips with her husband and sister-in-law when her husband was alive.

In addition to her husband Theodore, she was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Effie Curtis, her brother Raymond A. Curtis, Raymond C. Curtis, Charles L Curtis and her sisters Florence Lyons and Dorace Patterson.

Surviving are her six children and their spouses:  Janet & Jim Reeve, Bill Mance & Buddy Evans, Deborah & Larry Weissman, Anita & Mike Gillette, Brian & Megan Mance, and Lisa & Todd Williams.  She leaves 16 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and one on the way and 18 great great grandchildren and lots of nieces and nephews.

Mary will be greatly missed by her entire family and friends.

Visitation will be held from 10-11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 23, 2021 with Memorial Services following at 11:00 a.m. at the Porter Funeral Home in Lenexa, KS.  Mandatory mask and social distancing is required.  Burial will follow at the Chapel Hill Cemetery at 94th and State Ave.

Mary's loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren will act as honorary bearers for her services.

The family would like to thank the nursing staff at Parkway Care and Rehab for their care and love they gave to our mother during her illness and stay there and especially during this time of the pandemic. They treated her like she was their own mother.  God Bless you all.

In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 3846 W. 75th St. #4126, Prairie Villiage, KS. 66208

Sending love and sympathy to all. I will remember Louise with affection, she was a gentle woman who was always kind. I would often see her and Ted grocery shopping, heads together, quietly making some decision. You could see their respect and love in their actions. Together at last. R.I.P.

Mama I will truly miss you. You had a special place in my heart. When you moved into my house we had our moments but you were my best friend we did everything together. I'm so sorry you had to suffer so long. I know you're finally at peace and you are with Dad. I will miss you but I'm glad you're not suffering anymore and with the Lord. We love you, Your daughter Deborah and your son-in-law Larry

Mama, we had so many good times. Coming to your house on holidays or Sunday ritual dinners at your house. I know you've had so much pain in the last 12 years since we lost dad but now you two are together in heaven. It's going to be so sad not being able to come take you out to lunch or shopping. No one could be as wonderful as a mother as you have been to all six of your kids. We are going to miss you so much it's not going to be the same but you're back with Dad you're out of pain and now you can rest in peace. You will always be in our heart and in our mind. With sadness I say I'm going to miss you but with happiness to know you're no longer in pain. You're in my heart forever right next to Dad now. I love you both

My second mom passed away Jan. 15, 2021. I shall miss her with all of my heart. After Bill and I first got together, Mary and Ted eagerly embraced me as one of the family when Bill brought me to his parents’ home for the holidays early on in our forty-six years together as a couple. I truly needed that warm reassuring connection of extended family in my life that the Mance Family offered to me. When I met Mary, I felt so close to her as I realized what a wonderful mother she was to all of her children; including her children’s partners. Bill and I spent many happy holidays together with her and Ted, along with their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and assorted spouses. I am mindful that her last several years with us on Earth have been a long and difficult time for her, but her journey is over now. The last page of her story has been written, the final chapter completed, and her Book of Life put on a shelf in all of our hearts to be taken out and read again with love whenever we feel her soul brush up against us. We miss you Mom. We Will Love You Always, Your son-in-law, Buddy and Your Son, Bill

sister-in-law (Sister to Ted, Louise's husband) ,Westwood ,Kansas

We have so many great memories of family times with Louise, Teddy and their children when Rose, Linda and Wally (my children) were kids. We'd all get together at our house for Friday night fights on TV. There was always lots of fun and laughter--and food! And Christmas wasn't complete without Louise and Teddy joining us on Christmas morning. Then as our kids grew up, Walt (my husband), Louise, Teddy and I went on lots of trips together--and had so much fun going to casinos, playing bingo, and eating at all those great buffets! Louise and I became more like sisters than sisters-in-law. She was a loving mother to all her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren--and the love of my brother's life. We miss you and love you Louise--but know that you're happy now that you and Teddy are back together again. With our love, RoseAnn, Rose, Walt (Wally) Krzesinski and Linda (Krzesinski) & Brad Nicholson
