Frances Collette Deery, 96, daughter of Francis and Emma Steinmetz, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, of Kansas City, Kansas passed away Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at Providence Place. The mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, January 16, 2021 at the Cathedral of St. Peter, 416 N. 14 Street, Kansas City, Kansas with visitation at 9 a.m. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Cathedral of St. Peter or Bishop Ward High School. 

Frances was born in Kansas City, Kansas on October 3, 1924 and lived in Kansas City, Kansas most of her life. She attended nursing school in Freeport, Illinois, and while there met her loving husband of 58 years, Jerome Deery, who predeceased her. Frances was a tax examiner with the IRS for 22 years retiring in 1989 receiving numerous service awards. After retirement, she engaged in one of her many talents…tap dancing and at the young age of 69 she performed for many years with “The Dazzlers.” Frances was a member of St. Peter’s Cathedral for 51 years and served on the Altar Society, Lector, Eucharistic Minister, REACH volunteer and Compeer volunteer. 

Frances is survived by her six children Lynne Serrano (Paul Serrano, deceased), Kansas City, Kansas, Maggie Schuler (Michael Boruchi), Topeka, Kansas, Jerome Deery (Michelle), Shawnee, Kansas, Ronald Deery (Debbie), Roach, Missouri, Mary Kay Weir (David), Kansas City, Kansas, and Mickey Kaminski (Rick), Kansas City, Kansas, and 12 grandchildren, Gabriel (Celina), Dominic (Megan), Lauren Rangel (Miguel), Aaron (Allison) Serrano, Joshua (Brittany) Deery, Louis (Lauren) Deery, Rachel Lovelady (Seth), Heather Fernandez (Luis), Tina Sherman (Chuck), James Weir, Jake Kaminski (Rachael) and Katie Kaminski and 26 great-grandkids.

Frances was deeply devoted to her Catholic faith and shared this devotion with her family. She showered her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren with unconditional love. She was also known as a fantastic cook and her holiday meals were especially delicious and eagerly anticipated. Frances was a compassionate volunteer for many years with her church and community. Frances was an extremely warm, kind, loving, quick witted woman who will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her.
