Richard W. Weisensee, Sr., 83, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away Friday, November 6, 2020, at the University of Kansas Hospital.
Richard “Dick” was born October 29, 1937, in Lexington, Massachusetts. After graduating from high school, Dick joined the United States Marine Corps and was stationed in Japan. It was there he met his beloved wife, Eiko Wakasa. The devoted couple were married for 63 years until Eiko’s passing on December 28, 2019. “Family” was everything to this loving couple, and together they had four children, which has grown to several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Dick served in the Marines from 1955 until his honorable discharge in 1968 and is a veteran of the Vietnam war. After his discharge, Dick worked in the electronics field as a Service Manager, a role where he earned several recognition awards. He ended his professional career as a Comptroller when he retired in the early 1990’s.
Dick is also preceded in death by his beloved son, Rich, and is survived by his daughter, Theresa; son, Bobby (Scott); daughter, Debbie (Ray); daughter in-law, Terri; son in-law, Ray; 6 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
A private Family Graveside Service will be at 12:30 pm Friday, November 20, at the National Cemetery, 150 Muncie Rd., Leavenworth, Kansas.
In lieu of flowers, Dick's family suggests memorial contributions to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV).
