Jul 26, 1925---Oct 20, 2020

Harriet (Doyle) Szczesny, 95 of Lenexa, KS, formerly of Lower Burrell and Cheswick, PA passed away Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at Westchester Village in Lenexa, KS.  Harriet was in hospice for one week before passing and tested negative for COVID. After being cremated, there will be a family graveside ceremony at Leavenworth National Cemetery in Leavenworth, KS on October 28, 2020.

Harriet was born in Renton, PA on July 26, 1925, the daughter of Thomas and Anna Doyle. She attended high school in Oakmont, PA.  Harriet worked as a secretary at Allegheny Ludlum Steel Corporation for 10 years prior to being a homemaker and raising children.  Harriet has lived in Lenexa, KS for the last three years prior to death. Edmund and Harriet attended Good Shepherd and Holy Spirit Catholic Churches.

Harriet is preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Eddie (and Julie) 

Doyle and her sister, Irene Doyle. Her brother, Bob (and Mary) Doyle live in NC.

Harriet is survived by her husband of 68 years, Edmund Szczesny; four children and their spouses: Edmund Jr and Jeanine Szczesny of Canfield, OH; Camille Szczesny of Lenexa, KS; Carl and Kathy Szczesny of Lenexa, KS and Steven and Meredith Szczesny of Taneytown, MD and five grandchildren and their spouses: Michael, Becky(and Taylor) Swartz, Drew(and Cynthia), Angie, Rachel and Paige.  

The family request no flowers and suggest memorial contributions to Catholic Charities, 711 E Pittsburgh St, Greensburg, PA 15601.

Harriet’s family would like to thank everyone for their prayers, love and support during this time of celebrating her life. We are going to miss her sweet, loving spirit, her feisty character and her quick humor.
